Filter by:The primary goal of this project is to study the feasibility of a prototype brain-dedicated PET insert for an MR scanner for simultaneous acquisition of PET/MR images of metabolism and perfusion in Covid-19 negative and positive/once positive subjects. This study serves as a pilot study for establishing an imaging protocol for combined PET and MR derived functional information as well as MRI acquired anatomical information.
XPRESSE is a multicenter observational prospective biomarker study in which critically ill patients with MRI-based PRES diagnosis will have copeptin kinetics from a daily blood sample for 6 days and a 3-month follow-up. This study aims to investigate the relationship between copeptin and PRES in order to establish the optimal therapeutic time window for vaptan treatment against PRES. Data collection using an electronic case report form will include demographic data, medical history and data related to PRES: onset modalities and date of symptoms control, radiological features of PRES, biological investigations, results of etiological investigations and therapeutic management (e.g., anticonvulsants, antihypertensive drugs, supportive treatments). Outcomes will include modified Rankin scale score and Glasgow Outcome Scale score at ICU discharge, 3-month modified Rankin Scale score and 3-month mortality.
In this study, high-throughput screening and multi-omics (transcriptomics and proteomics) joint analysis technology will be employed to explore potential CTE/TES biomarkers (RNA and protein) in blood and its exosomes. Thereafter, these biomarkers will be combined with the reported TBI biomarkers to create a novel set of CTE/TES molecular diagnostic signatures. The findings may open a new avenue for the clinical diagnosis of the disease and the future research on its therapeutic strategy.
VIRGIL is a monocentric interventional study aiming to investigate the effect of immersion in a virtual tilted room on modulation of the verticality representation (postural vertical [PV] and visual vertical [VV]), which in turn might affect body orientation (head and trunk). To this end, the investigators will conduct a within-person randomized trial including post-stroke patients and healthy participants.
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of a 4-week lower extremity telerehabilitation protocol with aims to improve lower extremity function to a 4-week attention-controlled education program on lower extremity clinical outcomes, quality of life, and healthcare resources utilization among community dwelling adults with stroke across Canada.
The objective of this study is to evaluate, using MRI, the microstructural consequences and the onset of any cognitive impairment in professional soccer players at the end of their career, who have experienced repeated minor head injuries. Over the long term, these head injuries could lead to morphological lesions and have an impact on soccer players' cognitive skills. The main evaluation criterion corresponds to the modifications found on MRI in the professional soccer player group (diffusion tensor, cerebral perfusion, fMRI, cerebral volumetry and cortical thickness, spectroscopy, susceptibility imaging). This is an exposure/nonexposure study assessing the onset of MRI abnormalities (diffusion tensor, cerebral perfusion, fMRI, volumetry and cortical thickness, spectroscopy, susceptibility imaging) in professional soccer players exposed to repeated mild head injuries, who are either at the end of their career or retired for approximately 10 years, compared to high-level athletes not exposed to head injuries.
The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of NBI-921352 as adjunctive therapy for seizures in subjects with SCN8A Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy Syndrome (SCN8A-DEE).

The improvement effect of Bifidobacterium triple viable capsules(BIFICO) on motor symptoms and constipation and sleep in mild to moderate Parkinson's disease and the safety of the study; 2. the mechanism of the improvement effect of intestinal microecological changes on motor and constipation symptoms in mild to moderate Parkinson's disease.
Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE), is one of the most common organ dysfunction during the acute phase in sepsis and septic shock. Electroencephalogram (EEG) and auditory evoked potentials (AEPs), which reflect different aspects of brain function, are the most commonly used neurophysiological indices to detect acute brain dysfunction in critically ill patients including sepsis and septic shock. AEPs show the systemic responsiveness of the central nervous to auditory stimuli, so they can be considered a direct measure of brain responsiveness. Mismatch negativity (MMN) is a change-specific component of ERPs, which elicited by a deviant stimulus occurring in a sequence of repetitive stimuli. This component is thought to represent the automatic and unconscious detection of acoustic changes which requires good perceptual discriminative capacity and iconic memory. The peaks of MMN appear at 100 ~ 250 ms from deviant stimulus onset; with increasing magnitude of stimulus change, the peak latency of MMN was shortened and the amplitude increased. Since MMN can be elicited even in the absence of attention, subjects do not need to actively participate. The MMN has been extensively demonstrated to be used in the prediction of awakening in comatose patients for various reasons, and also has been reported to predict awakening in deeply sedated critically ill patients recently. However, it remains unclear whether SAE affects MMN in amplitude and latency that reflects cognitive processing of the auditory information. Patients with sepsis and septic shock who met the inclusion criteria were screened daily on the CAM-ICU scale, and those with positive CAM-ICU were diagnosed with SAE.All patients were tested for event-evoked potentials on Day 1 and Day 3 after inclusion and were followed up to Day 28 after discharge. The investigators intend to observe the dynamic change of MMN amplitude and latency between SAE and non-SAE groups. Logic regression analysis was used to determine whether the change of MMN was a predictor of SAE.
TReatment for ImmUne Mediated PathopHysiology (TRIUMPH) is a multi-center, three arm, randomized, controlled trial of immunosuppressive therapy for children with acute liver failure. The study will determine if suppressing inflammatory responses with either corticosteroids or equine anti-thymocyte globulin therapy improves survival for children with this rare, life-threatening condition.
