NCT ID: NCT06292520 Completed - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorders

Comparison of ABLLS-R and Portage Guide in the Development of Receptive Language Skills Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Start date: June 10, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Language is the system someone uses to communicate with another person. This covers the origins and construction of words, their definitions, and the use of language in various contexts. In normally developing children, receptive language skills are typically much more advanced than expressive language skills. However, some studies found that toddlers and kids with ASD had a relatively greater impairment in receptive language skills than in expressive language skills. The study will evaluate the ABLLS-R (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills test) and Portage guidance and compare their effectiveness in developing the Receptive Language Skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (N=12). The study will follow the Randomized control trial study design and a purposive sampling technique will be used. Data will be collected from a special education centre BASES (Behaviour and special education services), Lahore. Children with autism spectrum disorder with mild to moderate severity level will be included in the study. The age range of the children will be from three years to seven years. Children with other neurological disorders or any comorbid conditions will be excluded from the study. The consent form will be filled out by parents of children who meet the inclusion criteria. The autism screening tool will apply by the speech and language pathologist. Half of the total number of children will receive therapeutic intervention under ABLLS-R protocol and other will receive Interventions under portage guide protocol. The data will be analysed by using SPSS 22 statistical software. The results of the study of both the groups will be compared and conclusion will be made on the basis of results. Receptive language skills are crucial for communication and social interaction. Research comparing these assessment tools can contribute to the development of more effective early intervention programs for children with ASD. By identifying the most appropriate assessment tool and intervention strategies, these programs can be better designed to support early language development and promote better long-term outcomes. By understanding the strengths and limitations of each assessment tool, professionals can create more individualized treatment plans for children with ASD

NCT ID: NCT06147141 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorders

Effectiveness and Mechanism of Online Peer Companion Intervention on Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders

Start date: November 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this interventional study was to examine the effectiveness and mechanism of online peer companion intervention (OPCI) on the social abilities and mental health of ASD children. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Whether OPCI is effective on the social abilities and mental health of ASD children; 2. What impact does OPCI have on the social abilities and mental health of ordinary children; 3. What impact does OPCI have on the mental health of both children's parents; 4. What are the mechanisms of OPCI on ASD children.

NCT ID: NCT05910502 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Project AFECT (Autism Family Empowerment Coaching and Training Program)

AFECT
Start date: September 19, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the journey of families after their child's diagnosis of autism and to help parents understand autism and get the right treatments for their child. This study is for parents of children just diagnosed with autism who are: - Age greater than 1 and up to 5 years old; - Hispanic/Latino OR Black/African-American OR have Medi-Cal as primary health insurance; AND - Live in one of the following counties in California (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, or Sonoma). The main questions it aims to answer are: - Whether parent coaching through Project AFECT leads to decreased parental stress and increased parental confidence; - Whether family navigation through Project AFECT leads to increased number of referrals to early intervention and educational services and reduced wait times to autism treatments; - Whether children whose parents receive Project AFECT intervention show increased language skills compared to children whose parents did not receive intervention. Participants will be asked to: - Complete surveys at enrollment and 3 and 6 months later. - Work with Project AFECT Coach. Researchers will compare control and intervention groups to see if Project AFECT leads to improved parent and child outcomes.

NCT ID: NCT04737707 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorders

Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autisemo
Start date: April 16, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT; Linehan, 1993) effectively diminishes emotion dysregulation and self-harm behaviors in a number of disorders. However, to our knowledge, no studies have investigated the efficacy of DBT to treat emotional dysregulation associated with self-harm and suicidal behaviors in adults with ASD without intellectual disability. This randomized controlled study trial aims to assess the efficacy of a 5-month DBT intervention in adults with ASD without intellectual disability who present with self-harm and/or suicidal behaviors.

NCT ID: NCT04607616 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorders

Interactive Guidance Therapy With Video Feed-back of Parent and Child With Autism Spectrum Disorder

Start date: March 26, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of Interactive Guidance Therapy with video feed back (IGT) of parent and child with Autism Spectrum Disorder, under three years of age, using a Single Case Experimental Design (SCED) with multiple baseline across subjects, multicentric, randomized, with multiple replications, blinded scored

NCT ID: NCT04442061 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autism Spectrum Disorders: Double Blind Randomized Placebo-control Active Pilot Study of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Applied to the Superior Temporal Sulcus

STIMAUT
Start date: February 2, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Difficulties in social interactions are the core feature of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and are characterized by abnormal social perception, mainly concerning eye gaze. Anatomo-functional abnormalities within the superior temporal sulcus (STS), a key region of the social brain, have been described in ASD. The investigators had recently shown that it is possible to modulate the neural activity of the STS with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) with an impact on social perception, measured by eye-tracking. In the context of ASD, stimulation of the STS with excitatory TMS could lead to an improvement in social perception, which would open up new therapeutic strategies. The purpose of this double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study is to apply a therapeutic TMS protocol (10 daily sessions) at the right STS in young adults with ASD to improve their social behavior, objectively measured using eye-tracking.

NCT ID: NCT03934879 Completed - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorders

Physical Exercise and Contributors to Academic Performance Among Adolescents With ASD (Fit Club Study)

FitClub
Start date: August 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study, Physical Exercise and Contributors to Academic Performance among Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), aims to expand our understanding of the impact of regular physical exercise on improvement in academic performance. The investigators will focus on the use of affordable, portable, and achievable interventions that can be easily shared and incorporated into other academic and home settings. The study will examine the use a regular vigorous exercise program for helping students with ASD reduce body mass index and improve executive function, motor performance, sensory responsiveness, and mood. The investigators propose a collaborative arrangement with an area school to conduct an 18-month exploratory pilot study of 30 middle- and high-school aged students (12 to 18 years old) with ASD, who are returning participants or are new to participating in the Fit Club at Gateway Academy. The investigators expect that the changes elicited by participation in this type of exercise program will support the formation of adult life skills, impacting on long-term quality of life for individuals with ASD and children with other conditions.
