Filter by:The allergic respiratory diseases such as asthma or allergic rhinitis are the main chronic diseases in children. The airway inflammation plays an important role in their pathophysiology. Several epidemiological studies show that environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) exacerbates the symptoms of asthma and allergies. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of environmental tobacco smoke on the measurement of exhaled nitric oxide (eNO) and biomarkers of nasal inflammation in atopic asthmatic children.
The primary objective of this study is to elucidate the effects of Diesel particles on the allergic inflammation in the airways of asthmatic patients.
The trial is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 5 µg tiotropium over a 48-week treatment period as compared to placebo. Tiotropium inhalation solution delivered by the Respimat® inhaler will be examined as add-on controller therapy on top of usual care in patients with severe persistent asthma. The primary objective of each trial is to evaluate the long term efficacy of tiotropium over placebo on top of usual care in patients with severe persistent asthma as determined by pulmonary function testing, effects on asthma exacerbations, effects on quality of life, on asthma control and health care resource utilisation. The secondary objective of each trial is to compare the long term safety of tiotropium with placebo in this patient population.
The effect of surfactant protein D under native and altered conditions will be investigated in immune cells that are derived from bronchoalveolar lavage in patients with allergic asthma following segmental allergen challenge. The goal of this study is to elucidate the pro- versus anti-inflammatory function of SP-D molecules and to identify motifs of SP-D that have treatment potential in allergic asthma.
Verify if the quantitative parameters of the eosinophils activation and phagocyte system function show a predictive value for clinical response and prognostic in patients with persistent asthma treated with montelukast
To evaluate the concordance of the most frequently used words by the patients and the physicians to express asthma symptoms, according to the patient's level of asthma control.
This study evaluates the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics (PK) of MK0633 in adolescent mild-to-moderate Japanese asthma patients to permit further clinical investigation
The study will evaluate the effect of two intravenous dose regimens of benralizumab (MEDI-563) on the proportion of adult subjects with asthma exacerbations who required an urgent healthcare visit for treatment of an acute asthma exacerbation.
The purpose of this study is to compare once and twice daily GW685698 in asthma
The goal of this research is to determine the utility of Regadenoson (Lexiscan)for use as an imaging agent with cardiac MR. If found useful, it will help us establish a protocol for regadenoson stress MR perfusion (Regadenoson stress test with cardiac MR).The investigators will compare regadenoson with dobutamine so each participant will undergo two studies. A cardiac MR stress test with regadenoson and with dobutamine. The investigators participants will include patients with history of COPD and Asthma, so it will also help us determine feasibility of Regadenoson in these patient's subgroups.
