Community Organizing Network for Environmental Health

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Community Organizing Network for Environmental Health is a part of Community Action Against Asthma (CAAA), which, in turn is a part of the Michigan Center for the Environment and Children's Health. It is a community-based intervention research partnership between the University of Michigan, community-based organizations, and health care institutions in Detroit.

NCT ID: NCT00041834 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Geographic Modeling of Traffic and Asthma Rates

Start date: September 2000
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study surveys the parents/guardians about symptoms and diagnosis of asthma in kindergarten and first-grade students in 13 schools around the city of Anchorage, Alaska. Traffic information is also measured and entered in geographical information mapping system with student's home and school locations. The study will assess whether students living in high traffic areas have greater risk of diagnosis of asthma.

NCT ID: NCT00037726 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Antibiotics in Infancy--Risk Factor for Childhood Asthma

Start date: April 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To examine possible relationships between antibiotic use, as determined by prescriptions filled, and asthma in children ages 6 to 7.

NCT ID: NCT00037427 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Airway Responses Following Chlorine Gas Exposure

Start date: September 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To determine lung airway responses following chlorine gas exposure.

NCT ID: NCT00037375 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Physical Activity, Body Composition, and Prevalent Asthma

Start date: July 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To investigate the relationship of childhood lifestyle and physical characteristics to prevalent asthma.

NCT ID: NCT00035685 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Exposure of Children With Asthma to Household Environmental Tobacco Smoke

Start date: December 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To examine whether or not primary school-aged children with asthma from low-income households have lower household environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) exposure than matched control children.

NCT ID: NCT00029679 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Borage Oil and Ginkgo Biloba (EGb 761) in Asthma

Start date: September 2000
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will assess clinical efficacy and/or adverse effects of dietary borage oil (which contains gamma-linolenic acid [GLA]) and Ginkgo biloba in patients with mild persistent to moderate asthma.

NCT ID: NCT00029510 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Magnesium and Asthma - Clinical Trials

Start date: May 2002
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Asthma currently affects an estimated 15 million Americans. A number of studies have found an association between low dietary magnesium (Mg) intake and increased asthma incidence and severity of symptoms. However, clinical intervention trials are necessary to directly assess whether there is a true protective or preventative causal relationship between low Mg and asthma. In our study, we will assess the effects of 6 1/2 months of oral Mg supplements or placebo on clinical markers of asthma control, indirect biomarkers of inflammation, bronchial hyperresponsiveness, and indices of oxidative defense and damage in subjects with mild to moderate persistent asthma.

NCT ID: NCT00028288 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Study of Daclizumab in Patients With Chronic, Persistent Asthma

Start date: September 2001
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to evaluate an investigational medication to treat chronic persistent asthma. The research is being conducted at up to 22 clinical research sites in the US and is open to both men and women ages 18 to 70 years old. Participants in the study will have a number of visits to a research site over a 10-month period. All study-related care and medication is provided to qualified participants at no cost: this includes all visits, examinations and laboratory work.
