Effect of Aromatherapy on Preoperative Anxiety Level

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of lavender aromatherapy in reducing pre-operative anxiety in patients undergoing surgical procedures under spinal anesthesia. This was a prospective double blinded randomized controlled trial. After patient's approval, the anxiety level was assessed preoperativetively with Visual Analogue scale-anxiety and APAIS scale. To rule out any lavender sensitivity, all subjects were given a skin patch test. This was accomplished by applying a drop of lavender oil to the back of the hand and covering it with a Tegaderm dressing to prevent inhalation and spread of the oil. After randomisation and allocation, the investigators prooceeded with the intervention preoperatively. In the operating room, the acte under spinal anethesia was performed. Then we collect data postoperatively.

The Effect of Complementary Care Model on Patient Outcomes

The study will be carried out in Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University İzzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic between January 2022 and February 2023. The population of the study will consist of patients who will undergo coronary artery bypass in a planned heart and meet the inclusion criteria. The sample of the study will consist of patients who meet the inclusion criteria, volunteer to participate in the study, and whose written consent has been obtained. To calculate the sample size of the study; NCSS Pass 11.0 program was used. According to the result calculated in this program, it was seen that a total of 60 people, 30 people in each group, should be reached for two groups and 99% power (α: 0.05). With this study, it is aimed to increase the job satisfaction and quality of nurses as well as to increase the satisfaction of the patients in terms of nursing. By presenting the Complementary Care Model to our country for the first time with this study; In this context, it was planned to determine the effects of music therapy, progressive muscle relaxation exercise, aromatherapy and massage on the outcomes (nausea, vomiting, sleep, anxiety, pain, complications and satisfaction) of coronary artery bypass graft patients.

Effects of Aromatherapy in Hypertensive Individuals

Objective: To investigate the effect of aromatherapy on blood pressure and stress response by inhalation and foot massage in individuals with essential hypertension. Methods: The randomized controlled trial is performed with 69 individuals diagnosed with essential hypertension hospitalized. There are two interventions (group 1: aromatherapy-inhalation method, group 2: aromatherapy-foot massage) and a control group in the study. Blood pressure is measured with a digital sphygmomanometer after 10 minutes of rest; stress response is determined by heart rate, blood cortisol levels and anxiety scale. Aromatherapy with lavender oil is applied to the intervention groups; no application is made to the control group and routine follow-up at the hospital continued.
