Topical Bimatoprost Solution 0.03%in Stable Vitiligo

Vitiligo is an acquired depigmentation disorder of great cosmetic importance, affecting 1-4% of the world's population. Phototherapy and topical agents such as corticosteroids, calcineurin inhibitors, and vitamin-D derivatives are basic treatment modalities have been used in vitiligo but there is still no effective and safe treatment for this disease. Resistance to therapy, treatment complications and recurrence after treatment are the major problems of the current treatments. There are no clinical studies of use of Bimatoprost in treatment of vitiligo, as it is supposed to cause more hyperpigmentation and hypertrichosis as compared to other topical prostaglandin analogues; hence, the investigators decided to use it in treatment of localized vitiligo.

Interest of the Dermabrasion by Laser Erbium in the Treatment of the Vitiligo

The treatment of vitiligo remains disappointing especially in some localization such as bony prominences and extremities. The association of UVB and topical steroids has been proven to be synergistic but the results are still insufficient in those difficult to treat areas. Promising results have been shown with the combination of laser assisted dermabrasion, topical 5FU and UVB. The investigators hypothesize that the dermabrasion of vitiligo skin followed by topical steroids should potentialized the effect of UVB and be superior to topical steroids and UVB without dermabrasion. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of laser assisted dermabrasion combined to topical steroids and UVB phototherapy in difficult to treat areas. Patients with symmetrical non segmental vitiligo will be included in this prospective randomized monocentrer study. The investigators calculated the number of patients needed at 25. The side that will receive the dermabrasion will be centrally randomized and the opposite side will serve as control. Then on both side class 3 topical steroids will be applied daily 3 weeks on 4 for 12 weeks. UVB phototherapy will be performed twice weekly also for 12 weeks. The evaluation will be performed by two independent physician blinded to the treatment of standardized photos before and 1 month after the end of the treatment. The criteria of success will be at least 75% of repigmentation.

Studies comparing different treatments for vitiligo in the induction stage of the disease are still missing. The study hypothesis = cream treatment can stop actively spreading vitiligo lesions during the early induction stage of the disease.

Botulinum Toxin Treatment for Localized Vitiligo

Background: New light shed on the cholinergic aspects of vitiligo pathophysiology. It was found that acetylcholine concentration increased with a significantly reduced expression of acetylcholinesterase in vitiliginous patches that return to normal up on repigmentation. Objective: The investigators will undertook this controlled, prospective pilot study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin A in patients with localized vitiligo. Methods: 10 patients with focal or segmental vitiligo will be recruited. For each patient with focal vitiligo, one or two vitiliginous patches will be treated. The other patches will be used as control. For each patient with segmental vitiligo, half of the lesion will be treated. The other half will be used as a control. Botulinum toxin will be injected. The response will be analyzed at the initial visit, two weeks and at two and six months after therapy.

Ginkgo Biloba for the Treatment of Vitiligo Vulgaris in Adolescents

Vitiligo is a common hypopigmentation disorder with significant psychological impact if occurring before adulthood. One study investigating the use of Ginkgo biloba for the treatment of vitiligo in adults reports effectiveness, but has significant flaws. We endeavor to conduct an open label pilot clinical trial replicating the previous trial on 12 adolescents 12 to 18 years old. The purpose of the pilot is to test the feasibility of recruitment and patient retention, variability of outcome measures, and identify major safety concerns. The pilot will use 60 mg of standardized G. biloba two times per day (BID) for 12 weeks. The primary outcome will be the validated Vitiligo European Task Force (VETF) evaluation form, secondary outcomes will include the Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (VASI), assess repigmentation via photographs, and will monitor and report adverse reactions.

In vitiligo, the melanocytes are lost from the skin in certain areas. One treatment for vitiligo takes the melanocytes from areas of normal skin and places them on areas of that same person's body which have lost their color. This is called the melanocyte-keratinocyte transplantation procedure (MKTP). This procedure has been used successfully in over 3000 cases in India and Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this study is to see if it is effective when performed at the investigators' institution.

Vitiligo Treated With TL01 Combined With Tacrolimus Ointment Versus Placebo

BACKGROUND Vitiligo is a common, often distressing condition. Many of the patients do not achieve sufficient effect from what is regarded as the treatment of choice at present, narrow band(NB)UVB(Tl01). There are reports on some patients partly successfully treated with Tacrolimus ointment. AIM OF THE STUDY We want to study whether Tacrolimus ointment may give an additive effect on symmetric vitiligo in combination with NB-UVB. METHODS This is a double blind left/right comparative study with 6 months treatment time. Patients are treated with whole body NB-UVB x 2 or x 3 weekly, in addition to Tacrolimus ointment versus placebo every night on affected half body sites. To measure effects we use photodocumentation in addition to morphometric registration of symmetric target lesions every 6 weeks.

Excimer Lamp Versus Excimer Laser in Vitiligo Treatment

To date there is no direct comparative data concerning these two devices in this indication.
