Filter by:The purpose of this study is to image tumour lactate in study participants with locally advanced cervical cancer. Our hypothesis is that lactate content in cervical tumours, as measured by hyperpolarized 13C Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging, will correlate with diffusion-weighted MRI and 18FDG-PET (fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography). Furthermore, lactate imaging will potentially provide additional and more specific information regarding the metabolic activity of cervical tumours, thereby identifying regions of radiation resistance and guiding radiation treatment and brachytherapy.
In Mexico, cervical cancer (CC) ranks second in incidence and mortality among women. The National Institute of Cancer in Mexico (lNCan) receives annually about 500 patients with CC, 80% of which are diagnosed with locally advanced disease. The standard treatment for locally advanced disease consists in concomitant chemo-radiotherapy based on cisplatin (QT-RT), followed by brachytherapy, with an absolute benefit of 10%. Adverse effects include gastrointestinal toxicity, which is the most important factor limiting the dosage of pelvic radiation. Cancer treatment, in any modality, induces malnutrition, more so when combined treatments are administered. Radiation induced gastrointestinal toxicity is caused by different factors, among which are malabsorption of bile, fat and carbohydrates, decrease in brush border enzymes, diverticular disease, proctitis, and psychological factors. International guidelines for cancer patients recommend nutritional assessment in these patients before they start treatment, so nutritional risk can be detected and the patient may get started on dietary intervention to prevent malnutrition. Several authors have studied the dietary management that may help reduce the gastrointestinal effects in cancer patients receiving pelvic radiotherapy. To reduce diarrhea and prevent malnutrition the recommended dietary approach is a low residue diet consisting on 20-25% kcal from fat, 5g of lactose and 20g of fiber. Currently the INCan does not follow the nutrition care process for cervical cancer patients; written recommendations are given to the patients with a list of foods allowed or not allowed, with no further nutritional assessment or intervention. From previous studies, the investigators have demonstrated that the current recommendations do not help the patients maintain their nutritional status, during their treatment most patients become malnourished (81%, p<0.01). Therefore, the aim of this clinical trial is to evaluate a diet low in residue in CC patients, considering the necessary modifications for each patient if morbidities are present, in comparison with the current dietary recommendations used in the INCan.
The purpose of the study is to compare the results of the Becton Dickinson (BD) Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Assay on the Viper LT instrument from Liquid-based cytology media diluted in HPV diluent to adjudicated histology results from biopsy.
Registry participants with advanced malignancy or myelodysplasia will have a sample of their tumor or tissue analysed for genetic alterations using next generation sequencing (NGS) performed in a lab that has been certified to meet a high quality standard. Treatments and outcomes will be reported to the registry to allow further understanding of how genetic differences can lead to better diagnosis and treatments.
Locally advanced cervical cancer at higher risk for recurrence (HRLACC) following concurrent chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This is a group of participants with a significant unmet need. The estimated probability of disease recurrence or death within 4 years of diagnosis is 50% and the prognosis is very grave for those who experience a recurrence. The purpose of the study was to compare the disease free survival (DFS) of ADXS11-001 to placebo administered following cisplatin-based combination chemotherapy and radiation (CCRT) with curative intent in participants with HRLACC.
Cervix cancer is a major global health concern. A way to screen and immediately treat precancerous lesions (Screen-and-Treat) is greatly needed. Developed by MobileOCT, polarized difference imaging and conventional imaging are used to identify suspicious lesions. We aim to compare this non-invasive method with colposcopy. Patients at the Dickens Clinic will have 3-5 minutes of non-invasive imaging before colposcopy. Pathology will be compared both to colposcopy impression versus MobileOCT.
The purpose of Part 1 (Phase 1b) is to evaluate the general safety and tolerability of repeated 21-day cycles of AL3818 therapy, and to reevaluate the maximum tolerated dose (MTD). The purpose of Part 2 (Phase 2a) is to evaluate the efficacy of repeated 21-day cycles of AL3818 therapy preliminary efficacy of AL3818 in subjects with recurrent or metastatic endometrial, ovarian or cervical cancer.
Quantification and follow-up of circulating tumoral DNA in serum and/or plasma of patients with cervical cancer compared to the early detection of minimal metastatic disease.
Prospective, open-label, within-patient, multi-center study of Lymphoseek in the detection of lymph nodes in subjects with known cancer of the cervix. All subjects will receive a single dose of 50 µg Lymphoseek radiolabeled with 2 mCi (74 MBq) Tc 99m.
BIND-014 (docetaxel nanoparticles for injectable suspension) is being studied in patients with advanced urothelial carcinoma, cervical cancer, cholangiocarcinoma or carcinomas of the biliary tree and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Ferumoxytol imaging will also be investigated at US sites as an exploratory endpoint.
