Filter by:Monocenter, prospective, randomized, parallel group study (1:1) evaluating the efficacy of self-hypnosis performed by mask on pain and anxiety in patients receiving botulinum toxin injections in the treatment of idiopathic overactive bladder refractory to conventional pharmacological treatment. Patients will be randomized into two groups before injection: - Group 1: conventional anesthesia - Group 2: conventional anesthesia and use of the self-hypnosis mask At the end of the procedure, the patient will express the pain felt thanks to the VAS (Visual Analog Scale) and will answer a questionnaire of anxiety (STATE-TRAIT Anxiety Inventory).
A randomized clinical study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of using the Beta 3 agonist drug (Mirabegron) combined with standard behavioral therapy in comparison to using the anticholinergic drug (Solifenacin) combined with behavioral therapy, for children with non-neurogenic voiding dysfunction refractory to behavioral therapy alone, using improvement of dysfunctional voiding symptom score as a primary measurement of efficacy.
Overactive bladder (OAB) is a syndrome characterized by urinary urgency, with or without urinary incontinence, nocturia, and urinary frequency. Intravesical injection of onabotulinumtoxinA is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for treatment of neurogenic and idiopathic OAB. Current standard of practice involves 100 U of onabotulinumtoxinA diluted in 10 ml saline cystoscopically injected into approximately 20 different detrusor muscle sites equally distributed along the posterior bladder wall and dome. This treatment was classically done in the operating room under general anesthesia, but now is typically performed in an office setting using local anesthesia (lidocaine) as this is more feasible and tolerable. Patients can experience discomfort and pain with each injection. Evidence has also shown that administering the same dose of onabotulinumtoxinA into fewer injection sites in the detrusor muscle (ranging from 3 to 10) results in equivalent efficacy compared to the current standard. However, it has yet to be determined if there is a significant difference in patient satisfaction and tolerability when the procedure is administered in an office setting using the same dosage with fewer injections. Our study aims to assess whether patient tolerance and satisfaction of intravesicular onabotulinumtoxinA increases with the use of 4 detrusor injections as opposed to 20 injections when performed in an office setting on women with OAB.
The aim of our study is to investigate the effects of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) on pelvic floor muscle strength, sexual functions, bladder symptoms and quality of life in women with overactive bladder (OAB).
Overactive bladder (OAB) has a negative impact on the daily activities of affected individuals. OAB affects an estimated 12-17% of adults and has a similar reported prevalence in men and women. It has the potential to impair multiple domains of quality of life, including restriction of social and work life, while also resulting in higher healthcare resource use and costs. The primary objective of the present study was to evaluate, in a Croatian population reporting symptoms of OAB, the effect on work productivity and treatment behaviors (treatment seeking, receiving treatment, treatment dissatisfaction and treatment discontinuation).
About one to two million women in Taiwan suffers from overactive bladder (OAB). The most commonly used anti-muscarinic drugs have a high rate of side effects. While beta-3 adrenoceptor agonist, Mirabegron, has far fewer side effects, there are no consensus on whether it can be used as first-line treatment. The investigator's preliminary study showed that the concentration of beta-3 adrenoceptor in the urine of OAB patients is higher than that in the normal control group, so comparing urinary beta-3 adrenoceptor concentration of OAB patients before and after treatment may be used as a biomarker of therapeutic effectiveness. The results of this study will be of great help in understanding the effectiveness of Mirabegron and formulating OAB treatment plans.
Fluoroscopy is performed when placing a lead during a sacral neuromodulation procedure. During lead placement, subjects will receive either conventional or experimental fluoroscopic settings. The radiation exposure will be compared between the two groups.
80 female patients evaluated for sexual function after receiving Mirabegron 50 mg once daily for 6 months for treatment of overactive bladder symptoms
The Genital Nerve Stimulation - GNS - consists of a two-step procedure with a preoperative non-surgical test-phase and a final surgical implantation of the neuroprothesis. In contrast to the classical technique of transcutaneous lead electrode implantation for sacral or pudendal nerve stimulation, the GNS-test-phase does not require any interventional procedure: because the genital nerves are located just few millimeter below the skin, test-stimulation can be achieved using skin surface or needle electrodes. Stimulation is achieved using a battery powered hand-held stimulator . The effect of the stimulation can be tested by the patient in their daily, home and professional environment, or at the practice under urodynamic testing, or if required other electrophysio-logical testing. After confirmation of the effectiveness of GNS, implantation of a permanent neuroprothesis can be planned. The procedure is performed either under general or spinal anesthesia or using only local anesthesia with IV-sedation as in the classical tension-free vaginal tape procedure (TVT). Because the GNS does not require two surgical procedures for both the test- and the final-implantation but rather only one for the final implantation, the presented protocol allows considerable cost reduction in comparison to the usual procedures for sacral or pudendal nerve stimulation.
The question is whether vesical training and TMAP can be used in isolation without treatment of overactive bladder syndrome? ALSO will be evaluated in urinary symptoms, a function of the MAP, a quality of life and a satisfaction of the women with the treatment offered.
