Filter by:The goal of this interventional is to assess advantages of the ultrasound examination of the lungs in the early postoperative period in cardiac surgical patients after heart surgeries requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. Evaluation of pulmonary complications and outcomes during mid-term follow-up, as well as comparison of ultrasound examination and traditional roentgenologic methods (X-ray examination and CT of the chest) will be performed. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: - Is ultrasound examination of the lungs a more specific and sensitive method in identification of early postoperative pulmonary complications after on-pump cardiac surgical procedures, in comparison with traditional X-ray methods. - Does early identification of interstitial pulmonary edema (based on number of visualised B-lines in the early postoperative period), influences mid-term outcomes in this cohort of patients Participants will undergo ultrasound examination of the lungs on postoperative day 1, 3, 5 and 7 after heart surgery. Based on ultrasound findings and degree of interstitial pulmonary edema, medical (diuretics, anti-inflammatory, e.t.c) therapy will be modified. Researchers will compare this group of patients with control group, in which ultrasound examination will be performed in the same time frames, but no changes in medical management based on ultrasound findings will be made to see if timely administered medical therapy, based on ultrasound findings, can significantly improve symptoms, hospital lengths of stay and outcomes of this patients.
This study is prospective, non-randomized, single-arm,first in human study to evaluate the safety and feasibility of the Versa Vascular System for intervention in adults with severe tricuspid regurgitation who are not surgical candidates.
This study aims to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of multiple and mixed valvular heart disease (MMVD), which includes combinations of stenotic or regurgitant lesions on cardiac valves. The research will be conducted as a multicenter observational study, involving several centers worldwide, and will have a one-year follow-up period (with a possible extension to 5 years). The primary aim is to determine the proportion of MMVD among patients evaluated for valvular heart disease. Secondary aims include the evaluation of the epidemiologic distribution of clinical, biological, and cardiovascular imaging characteristics at baseline, management strategies, and their impact on prognosis. The study will also evaluate clinical outcomes such as mortality, hospitalization for heart failure, and changes in echocardiographic parameters. This research aims to provide valuable insights into the diagnosis, management, and prognosis of MMVD, addressing an important knowledge gap in this area.
Early Feasibility Study to evaluate the safety and performance of the Innoventric Trilliumâ„¢ Stent Graft in the treatment of severe or greater tricuspid regurgitation (TR).
The TricValve® Transcatheter Bicaval Valve System is a bicaval transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement system, which includes the TricValve® Transcatheter Bicaval Valve for superior vena cava (SVC) and the TricValve® Transcatheter Bicaval Valve for inferior vena cava (IVC). The TricValve® Transcatheter Bicaval Valves are pre-mounted into the TricValve® Delivery System which is used for percutaneous access and delivery of the TricValve® Transcatheter Bicaval Valve in the vena cava. The system is a single use, sterile device compatible with all the valve sizes. The prostheses are implanted percutaneously into the inferior and superior vena cava without disturbing the native tricuspid valve. The device is made of bovine pericardium leaflets sutured on a nitinol self-expanding stent system.
Tricuspid Regurgitation induces an asymmetric enlargement of the tricuspid valve (TV) annulus causing a reduction of leaflets coaptation. Annular dilation continues even after surgical treatment. The progressive nature of TR, inadequate surgical treatment, and high-risk patient population make TR an ideal target for transcatheter therapy. The TriFlo TFO System introduces a new concept for the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation. Its commissural anchoring is designed to respect TV leaflet integrity, mobility, and maintain RV contractility.
Functional tricuspid regurgitation (FTR) remains a common finding in patients with left-sided valvular heart diseases especially mitral valve regurgitation or stenosis. It is mainly caused by dilatation and flattening of the tricuspid valve (TV) annulus as a result of right ventricular (RV) enlargement and is inevitably affected by the RV function. Multiple studies support the better outcome of using rigid ring annuloplasty over suture repair for treating FTR in concern with the durability and freedom from residual regurgitation. These studies refer the superiority of rigid ring annloplasty to the three-dimensional configuration achieved by such rings which matches the normal tricuspid annulus and, at the same time, to the rigid support of the annulus. On the other hand, other studies support the use of flexible prosthetic bands like Dacron or polytetrafluroethilin (PTFE), especially over suture techniques, due to their easy applicability and availability with good postoperative results. Therefore, suture annyloplasty became nowadays less convenient for FTR repair since both flexible bands and rigid rings appeared to offer good midterm outcomes in recent meta-analysis studies. However, the ideal annuloplasty method for repairing FTR is still debatable between the three-dimensional (3D) rigid rings versus flexible prosthetic bands. In this retrospective comparative study, we share our experience with flexible fashioned bands in FTR.
The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety and clinical efficacy of the VDyne System in the treatment of symptomatic severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR).
International Registry to collect patients with severe TR undergoing TricValve implantation from multiple Italian and European centers, aimed at: - Assessing the effect of TricValve implantation on cardiovascular and all-cause mortality, HF rehospitalization, renal function, functional capacity and quality of life. - Clarifying the haemodynamic effects of TricValve implantation and investigating their pathophysiological implications.
