Filter by:This study is to investigate protective effect of biodegradable collagen implant in scleral showing after lateral rectus recession in patients with exotropia.
The strabismus impacts binocular visual acuity and stereoscopy. Thus, driving capacities of patients with strabismus may be reduced. The goal of this work is to study the possible amelioration of driving ability after strabismus surgery and to compare the driving capacities of patients with strabismus to a normal population; Patients will be tested before and after strabismus surgery using a driving simulator, binocular visual field and binocular visual acuity.
Amblyopia ("lazy eye") and strabismus (misaligned eyes) are medical eye conditions that combine as the leading causes of preventable vision loss in children. They are irreversible if not detected and corrected by the age of seven, however half of all cases are missed because the conditions do not always manifest themselves and pediatricians are unable to reliably detect the conditions. The current health care system badly needs an accurate and effective approach toward detecting amblyopia and strabismus in preschool children. The study will be conducted in busy, ethnically and racially diverse primary care sites operated by the Kaiser Permanente system and compare the outcomes of testing with a Pediatric Vision Scanner with outcomes the current standard of care.
This study evaluates the association between the depth of general anesthesia and the occurrence of emergence agitation (EA). The investigators hypothesized that optimal level of anesthetic depth could decrease the incidence of EA in children undergoing strabismus surgery compared to the deep level of anesthetic depth.
The purpose of this study is to describe clinical characteristics, treatments, and one-year outcomes of adults with convergence insufficiency, divergence insufficiency, or small angle hypertropia.
The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of remifentanil on postoperative vomiting in children undergoing strabismus surgery during sevoflurane anesthesia.
Study designed to determine the ability and accuracy of anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) to measure the distance between the corneoscleral limbus and the insertion site of the extraocular muscles (EOM) in adults with and without previous strabismus surgery. And to compare in surgical patients the pre-operative AS-OCT limbal-muscle insertion distance measurement to the intraoperative limbal-muscle insertion measurement using calipers (gold standard).
1. To establish the culture positivity rate in adjustable suture strabismus surgery 2. To identify bacterial species and antibiotic susceptibility patterns of microorganisms cultured from suture material 3. To compare suture contamination rates with techniques to reduce the suture contamination rate
Prospective randomized interventional comparative study
This study was designed to determine the effect of the depth of anesthesia on the oculocardiac reflex (OCR) during pediatric strabismus surgery.
