NCT ID: NCT03634280 Completed - Ankle Sprains Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Kinesio Taping and Splinting in Ankle Sprain

Start date: May 2, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Question:Does kinesiotaping(KT) reduce oedema, pain, disability and increase range of joint motion on patients with acute ankle ligament injuries? Design:Two-group, randomised, controlled trial with blinded assessors. Participants:This study included 240 patients with acute ankle sprain. The patients were randomised using randomisation software and divided into two groups each comprising 120 patients. Intervention:Tape and splint were kept on the patients for 5 days. Outcome measures:The following parameters were evaluated before and after treatment: circumference measurement for severity of oedema(metatarsophalangeal joint, ankle circumference,5cm above the ankle,10cm above the ankle),visual analog scale(VAS) pain score, range of motion(ROM) for the ankle with goniometer and disability level via the Foot Function Index (FFI).

NCT ID: NCT03571737 Completed - Trauma Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Lidocaine Patch in Acute Musculoskeletal Pain in the Emergency Department

Start date: June 23, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the addition of a lidocaine patch to ibuprofen in the treatment of acute musculoskeletal pains. Half of the participants will get only ibuprofen for their pain, while other half will receive lidocaine patch plus the ibuprofen. After addition of the pain medications, the participants will be followed for their pain scores and return visits.

NCT ID: NCT03550274 Completed - Ankle Sprains Clinical Trials

App-based Exercise Intervention for Persons With Acute Ankle Sprain

Start date: July 3, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Acute lateral ankle sprains (ALAS) account for 4-5% of all Emergency Department visits in Denmark. Up to 2/3 of individuals with a history of lateral ankle sprain have prolonged symptoms for several years after their initial injury. Exercise therapy has proven to be a cost-effective rehabilitation in treating ALAS and in preventing re-injury. Injury-map© is an exercise app designed for treating different musculoskeletal problems including ALAS. The app has currently not been tested in a clinical trial with patients suffering from ALAS. This mixed method pilot cohort study aims to investigate the use and preliminary effect of an exercise program on a mobile device in patients with ALAS. The exercise program is designed to be completed within approximately 3 months. However, participants will be followed as long as they complete minimum 1 exercise session per week. If a participant is inactive for two weeks they will be considered completed and contacted for follow-up assessment.

NCT ID: NCT03277833 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Stress-Induced Strain

Efficacy and Safety of Gynostemma Pentaphyllum(Dungkulcha) Extract on Alleviation of Chronic Stress-induced Strain

Start date: March 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators performed a 8-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Gynostemma Pentaphyllum(Dungkulcha) on alleviation of chronic stress-induced strain. The investigators measured decrement of body fat parameters, State&Trait version of STAI, Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI), Hamilton Anxiety Inventory(HAM-A), and monitored their blood pressure.

NCT ID: NCT03248011 Completed - Strains Thigh Clinical Trials

Hamstring Strain in High School Athletes

Start date: September 27, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the current study is, 1) Determine the effectiveness of injury prevention programs for prevention of hamstring muscle strains, 2) Identify how these programs impact athletes' flexibility, muscle stiffness, strength, and power, and 3) Determine the ability of a state-of-the-art imaging technology, shear wave elastography to predict future hamstring muscle strain injury.

NCT ID: NCT03090204 Completed - Systolic Function Clinical Trials

Strain Analysis as a Right Ventricle Contractility Marker

Start date: November 25, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The analysis of the systolic function (contractility) of the right ventricle (RV) is fundamental and central in many pathologies in intensive care unit. It can guide physicians in choosing therapeutics. The conventional ultrasound markers of RV function evaluation currently used are influenced by RV loading conditions, impairing their capacity to approximate a true contractility analysis. Myocardial strain imaging is a recent echographic technique that allows, among other things, to evaluate RV systolic function. It is a reproducible index with early variations which, if it proved to be independent pre-load, would help to better appreciate the RV contractility.

NCT ID: NCT03063437 Completed - Clinical trials for Antibiotic Resistant Strain

A Trial of Encapsulated Fecal Microbiota for Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus Decolonization

Start date: August 17, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to provide preliminary insight into the safety and efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for the eradication of gastrointestinal carriage of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus.

NCT ID: NCT03061097 Completed - Clinical trials for Antibiotic Resistant Strain

Autologous Fecal Microbiota Transplantation to Prevent Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Colonization

RACE
Start date: July 10, 2017
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study, a Randomized controlled trial of Autologous microbiome reconstitution to prevent Colonization by antibiotic rEsistant bacteria (RACE), seeks to investigate the safety, feasibility and the role of autologous fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for the prevention of antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) through microbiome restoration.

NCT ID: NCT02916940 Completed - Sprain Clinical Trials

Injection of Corticoids for the Treatment of Acute Sprains of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joints of the Fingers.

Start date: November 16, 2016
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

There is currently no real consensus on the optimal management of acute sprains of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the long fingers. The aim of this study is to assess the beneficial effect of an injection of corticosteroids for the treatment of this type of sprain (one single sub-cutaneous injection, in the acute phase). This treatment, if effective, might become the treatment of choice for these types of injuries, instead of a prolonged immobilization or a careful early mobilization.

NCT ID: NCT02692131 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Comparison of Two Methods of Strain by Perioperative Transesophageal Echo in CABG : An Observational Study

Strain
Start date: January 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

There is an increasing need for diagnostic modalities able to objectively quantify myocardial function. Quantification of regional myocardial function with ultrasound is challenging on its own. Visual assessment of wall motion and thickening requires extensive training [1] and remains highly subjective [2]. Tissue deformation imaging is a recently introduced technique which enables the objective assessment of regional myocardial deformation assessed by ultrasound based strain and strain rate using Doppler Tissue Imaging or Speckle tracking. There are limited number of studies comparing the myocardial deformation parameters (i.e. Strain and Strain rate) by 2 different echocardiographic techniques viz Doppler tissue imaging and Speckle tracking in the perioperative period. In this study, we plan to study the above said parameters in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting using transesophageal echocardiography and correlate these parameters with cardiac output by thermodilution method using pulmonary artery catheter.
