Filter by:Postsurgical pain is now known to be one of the most common and difficult-to-treat complications of surgery. severe postoperative pain can significantly impair patients' quality of life, social functioning and contribute to excessive health care expenditures. It is worth noting that acute postoperative pain may play a vital role in central sensitization and up-regulation of pain receptors, even factors implicated in the development of CPSP. According to previous studies, the incidence of postoperative pain among patients undergoing spinal surgery was nearly 80%. At the same time, perioperative pain management of patients undergoing spinal surgery has not been clearly. For the past few years, pregabalin and esketamine are becoming important roles in perioperative pain management, lots of studies have shown that these two analgesics might relieve postoperative pain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute analgesic effects of esketamine and pregabalin in combination after spinal cord neoplasms resection, so as to find a better way to help the patients undergoing spinal surgery keep away from the acute perioperative pain.
In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the imaging data of spinal tumors to find out more imaging features of spinal tumors, in order to provide more accurate reference for the diagnosis of spinal tumors.
1. Exploit CT (plain scan), enhanced CT and fMRI based radiomic biomarkers, explore their correlation with the prognostic molecular markers of spinal GCTB(p53/vegf/rank/rankl…), and help accurate diagnosis of GCTB. 2. Exploring a new method of preoperative risk stratification for spinal GCTB, and establishing radiomic model combined with clinical features. Exploring the GCTB biological behavior prediction model and the prognosis prediction of GCTB.
The research project is testing whether in screw insertion of spine surgery using "Anatase" Spine Surgery Navigation System is at least as safe and accurate as using O-arm assisted spine surgery- Medtronic Stealthstation S7 Treatment Guidance System.
Spinal biopsy is important to obtain culture and histopathological diagnosis in spine infection and tumors. To date, there is no prospective randomized study comparing both techniques. Therefore, the aim of this prospective randomized trial was to evaluate the accuracy, safety and diagnostic outcome of both these techniques.A prospective randomized trial was performed in 60 patients divided equally into fluoroscopic and CT guided spinal biopsy groups. Transpedicular approach was done with 8G core biopsy needle. Specimens were sent for histopathological examinations and cultures. Diagnosis were made based on biopsy results, clinical criteria and disease progression during 6 months follow up. Radiation expose to patients and doctors were measured with optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters (OSLDs).
Prospective, multicenter non comparative and observational study (post-market clinical follow-up). Patients operated with PASS OCT® manufactured by MEDICREA® INTERNATIONAL between July 2016 and July 2017. The inclusion period will be 12 months and the follow-up 24 months
Multicenter study allowing to include the first sixty patients implanted with a custom-made corpectomy implant (UNiD 3D VBR): 30 patient implanted in cervical region and 30 patients implanted in thoracolumbar region. The main objective is to confirm feasibilty and safety of patient-specific implants for one or multi-level corpectomy and fusion. This study was approved in March 2016 allowing to include retrospectivley all patients since the first implantation in January 2015 and prospectively all patients after the approval.
This research study is evaluating suitability of a delayed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in management of spine tumors. Currently the standard of care is obtaining an MRI scan in the early postoperative period (within 72 hours after surgery). The purpose of this study is to see if delayed MRI (2 to 3 weeks after surgery) is similar in quality to the earlier MRI. In this study patients will undergo 2 MRIs after the surgery instead of one MRI. Patients will have one MRI about 3 days after the surgery and one MRI about 2-3 weeks after surgery.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn about the safety and accuracy of using MRI as a guidance system during laser ablation surgery of tumors that have spread to the spine.
This study will evaluate the efficacy of a newly developed serious game, SCI HARD, to enhance self-management skills, self-reported health behaviors, and quality of life among adolescents and young adults with spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D). SCI HARD was designed by the project PI, Dr. Meade, in collaboration with the UM3D (University of Michigan three dimensional) Lab between 2010 and 2013 with funding from a NIDRR (National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research) Field Initiated Development Grant to assist persons with SCI develop and apply the necessary skills to keep their bodies healthy while managing the many aspects of SCI care. The study makes a unique contribution to rehabilitation by emphasizing the concepts of personal responsibility and control over one's health and life as a whole. By selecting an innovative approach for program implementation, we also attempt to address the high cost of care delivery and lack of health care access to underserved populations with SCI/D living across the United States (US). H1: SCI Hard participants will show greater improvements in problem solving skills, healthy attitudes about disability, and SCI Self-efficacy than will control group members; these improvements will be sustained over time within and between groups. H2: SCI Hard participants will endorse more positive health behaviors than control group members; these improvements will be sustained over time within and between groups. H3: SCI Hard participants will have higher levels of QOL than control group members; these differences will be sustained over time within and between groups. H4: Among SCI Hard participants, dosage of game play will be related to degree of change in self-management skills, health behaviors and QOL.
