Evaluating The Effects Of E-cigarettes Versus Oral Nicotine Pouches and Product Constituents (Menthol Flavor, Nicotine Concentration) On Adult Cigarette Smoking and Addiction
The study will recruit an anticipated 256 adults who currently smoke cigarettes and report a willingness to try switching to alternative, non-combustible products. Participants will be randomized to receive either e-cigarettes or nicotine pouches for a duration of 4 weeks and to 1 of 4 possible regulatory scenarios within products where flavor availability is either menthol and tobacco/unflavored available or tobacco/unflavored only available, and nicotine concentration is either higher (5% e-cig, 6mg pouch) or lower (2.4% e-cig, 3mg pouch). Participants will return for bi-weekly research visits (in person or remote videocall) to complete measures for study aims. Participants will complete a final follow-up at Week 6 to assess maintenance of cigarette reduction and willingness to continue using products once they are no longer provided. The investigators expect to observe which products and constituents lead to greater smoking reduction.

Real-time Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Neurofeedback Treatment for Young Adults With Internet Gaming Addiction
The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the therapeutic potential of real-time functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) neurofeedback in alleviating internet gaming disorder (IGD) symptoms by training individuals with such symptoms to down-regulate the activity in their reward-processing-related midbrain regions.

Healthy Minds Program for Veterans With Opioid Use Disorder on Buprenorphine Maintenance Treatment: A Pilot Study
The goal of this clinical trial is to see whether the Healthy Minds Program for Addictions could be used to help veterans with moderate-severe opioid use disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder stay on buprenorphine maintenance treatment. Participants will be asked to complete a six-week program consisting of 6 weekly, 2-hour in-person group sessions, as well as assessments before the start of the sessions.

Treating Nicotine Addiction in Caregivers of Children at American Family Children's Hospital
The purpose of this research study is to 1) see if a smoking cessation program is something that caregivers will use while their child is hospitalized, 2) see if caregivers think this program is something we should institute across the hospital, and 3) see if this program can help caregivers reduce their smoking. Participants will: - Complete a survey regarding smoking behavior and thoughts about quitting; - Undergo a 20-minute counseling session; and, - Use nicotine patches and mini-lozenges for 2 weeks

Biopsychosocial Markers of Addiction in Opioid Users: an Integrated Approach
Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a chronic and severe psychiatric condition, defined by problematic opioid use, that significantly impairs interpersonal and social functioning. Over the last 10 years, a dramatic increase in the prevalence of OUD and deaths by overdose has occurred in several developed countries, in particular the USA. In France, similarly, the burden associated with OUD is worsening, and now represents a major public health crisis. During last decades, it has been demonstrated that OUD results from combined effects of numerous factors, which have been robustly identified across a variety of research fields, including psychiatry, sociology, and neurobiology. This plurality is embodied in a comprehensive theoretical framework, the biopsychosocial model of addiction, composed of elements whose effects have been well defined individually, but remain poorly characterized and understood in combination. More recently, behavioral epigenetics has emerged as a promising discipline to identify molecular mechanisms that may help explain how life experiences, in particular psychiatric and sociological factors, modulate the regulation of genes, brain function, and emotional regulation. In this context, here we propose a multidisciplinary project that builds on the collaboration of psychiatrists, sociologists and neuro-epigeneticists. The investigators will simultaneously characterize major psychiatric and social factors in a large cohort of individuals with OUD, with the goal of covering the full spectrum of disease severity. By combining deep psychosocial evaluation with the investigation of blood-derived epigenetic biomarkers, they will seek to provide a new and deeper understanding of determinants of OUD severity. The project builds on 3 main hypotheses: 1. Social and psychiatric factors together contribute to OUD severity; 2. Epigenetic mechanisms, measured in peripheral accessible tissues such as blood, represent biomarkers that may reflect pathophysiological processes resulting, at least in part, from the effects of psychosocial factors; 3. Measures of OUD severity combining both psychosocial factors and epigenetic biomarkers have the potential to improve our ability to describe OUD severity, and better predict its clinical course.

CTN-0126 Following Outcomes Remotely Within Addiction Recovery Domains
The aim of this study is to describe outcome of people with opioid use disorder over the long-term by collecting monthly and yearly data on their recovery. Adults with opioid use disorder who participate will complete surveys monthly online and once per year by phone about their substance use, mental health, treatment involvement and functioning. The goal of this study is to better understand how people with opioid use disorder recover over time to improve intervention for this group.

Mechanisms Involved in the Developement of Sports Addiction Among Military Personnel
Sport addiction (or exercise addiction) has been recognized as a pathology by the World Health Organization since 2011. However, it is still relatively under-researched. It is one of the so-called behavioral addictions and has long-term negative consequences for physical, psychological and social health, such as : isolation ; frequent injuries; co-addiction with or as a result of sports'. The study is aimed in particular at military physicians and will target a population where sport is an integral part of the job and where sporting performance is valued: military personnel. The aim of this study is to explain and try to understand this pathology through the experiences of those who suffer from it. Therefore, investigators have chosen to conduct a qualitative study inspired by the embedded theory. Semi-structured individual interviews will be conducted using an interview guide. This guide, consisting of 5 or 6 open-ended questions, will help to set the general direction of the interview without preventing the participant from deviating. The interview guide may evolve as the interviews progress, enriched by any new ideas or themes that emerge.

Cue Effects in Human Addiction: Pavlovian to Instrumental Transfer
Individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) have to cope with drug-related cues and contexts, which can affect instrumental drug seeking as shown with Pavlovian to instrumental transfer (PIT) paradigms in animals and humans. The investigators aimed to investigate the impact of acute and chronic stress on Pavlovian-to-instrumental transfer (PIT), how PIT it is associated with cognitive control abilities and whether such effects predict losing vs. regaining control in subjects with AUD. Moreover, the investigators aimed to develop a novel full transfer task that assesses both, general and specific PIT to investigate whether specific PIT differs between alcohol use disorder (AUD) and control subjects.
