Nutritional Therapy Study in Pediatric Crohn's Disease

A Blinded, Nutritional Therapy Study, Using a Modified Specific Carbohydrate Diet in Pediatric Crohn's Disease

The investigators are doing this research study to answer questions about a nutritional therapy called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) for children with active Crohn's Disease (CD). The SCDiet is a diet where all grains such as wheat, barley, corn, rice are restricted. Most dairy products (except certain yogurt) are also restricted. The diet mainly consists of meat, fruits, vegetables, nuts, oils and honey, and is offered to individuals with active Crohn's disease as part of standard of care at Seattle Children's. For this study, the investigators will have three different dietary groups: 1. Traditional SCD diet group 2. Modified SCD to include oatmeal and rice 3. SCD with whole foods without added sugar Specifically, the investigators want to know: - Is the SCD well tolerated? - Is SCD effective for the treatment for active Crohn's Disease? - Will the results from the varied three dietary groups have the same results for each patient?

Efficacy and Safety of GLPG0634 in Subjects With Active Crohn's Disease

Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Multi-Centre Study to Investigate the Efficacy and Safety of GLPG0634 in Subjects With Active Crohn's Disease With Evidence of Mucosal Ulceration

- 180 patients suffering from active Crohn's disease with evidence of mucosal ulceration will be evaluated for improvement of disease activity (efficacy) when taking GLPG0634 or matching placebo once daily for 20 weeks in addition to their stable background treatment. - During the course of the study, patients will also be examined for any side effects that may occur (safety and tolerability), and the amount of GLPG0634 present in the blood (Pharmacokinetics) as well as the effects of GLPG0634 on disease- and mechanism of action-related parameters in the blood and stool (Pharmacodynamics) will be determined. Also, the effects GLPG0634 administration on subjects' quality of life will be evaluated.

Standardized Fecal Microbiota Transplantation for Crohn&Apos;s Diseases

Efficacy and Safety of Standardized Fecal Microbiota Transplantation for Moderate to Severe Crohn&Apos;s Diseases

The gut microbiota is considered to constitute a "microbial organ" which has pivotal roles in the intestinal diseases and body's metabolism. Evidence from animal and human studies strongly supports the link between intestinal bacteria and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Dozens of studies reported its efficacy in treatment of severe Clostridium difficile colitis. Preliminary studies using FMT for Ulcerative Colitis (UC), Crohn's diseases (CD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and constipation have also met with some success. However, the results on CD is very limited. This is an initial step into investigating the potential efficacy of fecal bacteriotherapy for CD, the investigators propose to determine the efficiency, durability and safety of FMT in a series of 500 patients with CD in ten years.

Ultrasound Stiffness Imaging in Crohn's Disease

Investigating Ultrasound Stiffness Imaging for Predicting Outcomes in Crohn's Disease

The purpose of this study is to determine whether ultrasound-based assessment of intestinal stiffness in patients with Crohn's disease predicts the effectiveness of medical therapy or the need for surgical resection.

Investigation of Sexual Function in Crohn's Disease Patients With Perianal Fistulas

Investigation of Sexual Function in Crohn's Disease Patients With Perianal Fistulas

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate whether Crohn's Disease patients with peri-anal fistulas will suffer from sexual dysfunction in an attempt to help us identify Crohn's Disease patients that would benefit from sexual health interventions. Hypothesis: Crohn's patients with active perianal fistulas will have decreased sexual drive, performance, and satisfaction than those with Crohn's Disease in remission.
