RSA vs RCR for Massive RCTs

Different treatment options are available for massive or irreparable rotator cuff tears. An arthroscopic or an open repair approach is possible in the majority of cases and functional outcomes are improved, particularly when a complete arthroscopic repair can be achieved. However, the healing rate of massive rotator cuff tears after repair may remain low and failure of healing is associated with progression of arthritis. An alternative to arthroscopic or open repair is reverse shoulder arthroplasty which decreases pain and improves function, active shoulder elevation and quality of life. The primary goal of this prospective multicentric randomized study is to determine if there is a difference of functional outcomes between rotator cuff repair (RCR) repair and reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA).

Effect of Gabapentin on Sleep and Opioid Use Following Rotator Cuff Repair

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effects of gabapentin in patients undergoing rotator cuff repair surgery. The main question it aims to answer is whether gabapentin can improve postoperative pain and sleep quality. Participants in this study will be randomized to either take gabapentin after surgery or a placebo after surgery.

Finnish Imaging of Shoulder Trauma

The FIMAGE-Trauma study is an extension of the FIMAGE study and aims to answer the question if rotator cuff tears found on shoulder imaging after a shoulder injury are caused by the index trauma or are rather incidental findings. Eligible participants of the FIMAGE study will be invited to a follow up visit in the case of a shoulder injury or a sudden onset of significant shoulder symptoms (within a 2-year time frame). These findings will then be compared to the baseline data collected in the FIMAGE study (including the comparison of pre-injury and post-injury MRI:s)

Critical Shoulder Angle and Acromial Index on 3D Models

Objective: The relationship between rotator cuff tears and morphological features of the shoulder joint has not been fully explained. The earlier studies are usually done with two-dimensional radiography images, but joint positions and bone formations could not be fully evaluated in two-dimensional images. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between rotator cuff tears and critical shoulder angle (CSA) and acromial index (AI) values in three dimensions. Methods: This study examined computerized tomography of 24 rotator cuff tears (rotator cuff tear group) and 20 Bankart lesions, and no rotator cuff tears (control group). CSA and AI were measured on three-dimensional glenohumeral joint models obtained by three-dimensional reconstructions of computed tomography examinations. The investigators anticipate results of this study will guide clinicians in revealing the etiology of rotator cuff degeneration and determining the surgical method to be used for treatment.

PMCF Study on the Safety, Performance and Clinical Benefits Data of the Quattro X Broadband

The study is a multicenter, retrospective and prospective, non-randomized, noncontrolled, and consecutive series post-market study. The purpose of this study is collect data confirming safety, performance and clinical benefits of the Quattro® X Suture Anchor with BroadBand™ Tape and Instruments when used in rotator cuff repair. The primary endpoint of this study is the assessment of performance by analyzing soft tissue to bone healing in the shoulder (rotator cuff). Healing will be assessed by the investigator using PROMs and clinical outcomes of the patient. The clinical benefit will be assessed by functional outcomes measured using standard and well-established scoring systems (e.g. Constant & Murley and EQ-5D-5L) at 1 year post-operative. The safety will be assessed by monitoring the incidence and frequency of device- and/or procedure-related adverse events.

Does MI Have a Therapeutic Role in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair?

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of motor imagery on muscle activity, pain, and function in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Methods: As a result of the power analysis (G-Power), 36 participants are planned to be included in this study Block randomization will be used to divide participants into 2 groups, each with at least 18 participants: Group 1 (MI group) and Group 2 (Control group) (Randomizer.org). Both groups will receive a 4-week physical therapy program. MI (Motor Imagination) group will receive a motor imagination program in addition to the physical therapy program. Data will collect using the visual analog scale (VAS), goniometric measurement, circumference measurement, Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Questionnaire (DASH), Kinesthetic and Visual Imagery Questionnaire- KVIQ-20, Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale, 3-question satisfaction questionnaire, superficial Electromyography (EMG) (BTS Bioengineering Free EMG 100 RT). Practice Implications: The current study will contribute to understanding how motor imagination affects muscle activity and muscle atrophy.

Finnish Imaging of Shoulder Study

In the Finnish Imaging of Shoulder study we will recruit 600 participants from a nationally representative general population sample. Participants aged 40 to 75 years will be invited to a clinical visit that includes assessment of general health, shoulder history and symptoms, and bilateral clinical examination and shoulder imaging (both plain radiography and MRI). We aim to assess the prevalence of abnormal imaging findings in both asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals and explore possible risk factors for abnormal imaging findings and shoulder symptoms.

Microfracture at Proximal Humerus Lateral to Footprint Could Enhance the Rotator Cuff Healing

The goal of this clinical trial is to test whether there is any effect on rotator cuff healing by making microfracture at the lateral side of the footprint. The main question it aims to answer are: - [whether the lateralized microfracture could decrease the retear rate after arthroscopy rotator cuff repair.] - [whether the lateralized microfracture could improve the functional recovery after arthroscopy rotator cuff repair.] Participants with medium to larger size rotator cuff tears will be randomly assigned to the study group treated with lateralized microfracture immediately after arthroscopy rotator cuff repair or the control group treated with conventional arthroscopy rotator cuff repair without microfracture.
