Association Between Tendon-related Transcription Factor and Ultrasound Images and Shoulder Function

Start date: November 30, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The purpose of this project is to extract effusions and damaged tendons during tendon repair therapy in patients with tendon tears. Then, we would analyze tendon-related transcription factors from histology and cytology, and compare changes in tendon with ultrasound images. Helps to understand the mechanism of tendon lesions.

Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy Conservative Treatment With Collagen, PRP or Both

RCCT
Start date: July 1, 2020
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the trial is comparison of the effectiveness of three methods of conservative treatment in partial thickness rotator cuff injury (PTRCI): collagen with PRP injections, PRP injections alone and collagen injections alone.

NCT ID: NCT04470570 Completed - Rotator Cuff Tears Clinical Trials

The Effect of Cross-Education on Shoulder Arthroscopy

Start date: July 13, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of a strength training protocol on the uninjured upper extremity either alone or with the addition of blood flow restriction (BFR) training on subjects who have undergone shoulder arthroscopy.

NCT ID: NCT04461028 Withdrawn - Rotator Cuff Tears Clinical Trials

Liposomal Bupivacaine in Shoulder Arthroscopy

Start date: February 21, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Background: The research study is being conducted to see if using the liposomal Bupivacaine for the Interscalene block will improve the patient pain control and the whole patient's experience 48 hours after surgery when compared to using the regular Marcaine (bupivacaine hydrochloride) in addition to the dexamethasone. All preoperative, surgical, post-operative care in the recovery room, and discharge instructions will be the same as any other patient undergoing this surgery. Study procedures: 1. After obtaining informed consent, an anesthesiologist will receive an envelope with result of randomization. Patients will receive a single injection interscalene nerve block prior to surgery 2. Patients will be randomized to one of two groups: - GROUP 1 liposomal Bupivacaine - will receive a 20 ml mixture of 10 ml of Liposomal Bupivacaine 1.3% and 10 ml of Bupivacaine HCl 0.5%. - GROUP 2 Bupivacaine with dexamethasone - will receive 20 ml of Bupivacaine HCl 0.5% with 4 mg of preservative-free dexamethasone. 4. Patients will undergo general endotracheal anesthesia with inhaled anesthetic (Sevoflurane) for a goal MAC 1.0. Other than the aforementioned interscalene nerve block, patients will not receive any other local anesthetic. 5. Patients will receive a multimodal analgesic and antiemetic regimen standardized for shoulder arthroscopies at our institution. Preoperatively, all patients will receive 300 mg of gabapentin and 1,000 mg of acetaminophen orally. Intraoperatively, patients will receive 4 mg of ondansetron and 15 mg of ketorolac intravenously. Postoperatively, patients will remain on an oral regimen of 300 mg of gabapentin three times daily for one week, and 1,000 mg of acetaminophen and 10 mg of ketorolac every 8 hours for 48 hours after surgery. 6. Additional intraoperative or postoperative opioid analgesics will be administered as needed. Patients with a history of PONV or otherwise deemed high risk for PONV by the attending anesthesiologist will receive a scopolamine patch before induction of general anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT04421417 Suspended - Rotator Cuff Tears Clinical Trials

The Effect of Microfracture Procedure on Rotator Cuff Tendon Healing

Start date: September 15, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with complaints of shoulder pain or limitation of motion and had rotator cuff rupture diagnosed with magnetic resonance imaging will be analyzed and the patients with surgical indication will be included in a randomized fashion. One group of patient will undergo standard arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, while the other group will have microfracture procedure in addition to the standard arthroscopic repair. Before the operation, functional and clinical conditions will be recorded with Constant and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Shoulder Score (ASES) universal shoulder scoring systems and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) pain scale. The blood supply and healing of the tendon in the repair area will be compared by the doppler ultrasound (superb microvascular imaging) at the 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th week after the operation. Post-operative clinical, functional status and pain levels will be evaluated with Constant, ASES and VAS pain scales at 24th week.

Ultrasound After Total Shoulder Arthroplasty

Start date: May 20, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study would be to evaluate a group of patients status post post-total shoulder arthroplasty to assess the integrity of the rotator cuff using ultrasound. We believe ultrasonography imaging to be a comparable and efficacious modality to evalute tenotomy healing rates and diagnose rotator cuff failure after total shoulder arthroplasty. In addition, we believe ultrasonography to be a cost-effective modality to asses the rotator cuff after total shoulder arthroplasty. Our population would consist of patients that received total shoulder arthroplasty within the last 5 years.

NCT ID: NCT04388306 Completed - Rotator Cuff Tears Clinical Trials

Shoulder Functional Performance After Shoulder Surgery

Start date: June 12, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Rotator Cuff (RC) injuries are a progressive clinical condition that starts with an acute tendonitis, continues with partial thickness rupture and results in a full thickness rupture in the advanced period. Arthroscopic RC repair is effective in the acute RC ruptures treatment caused by traumatic events. In the acute period after arthroscopic RC repair, shoulder joint range of motion (ROM), muscle strength and shoulder functionality are decreased and daily activities are adversely affected. In the long-term, many studies have reported that these symptoms gradually decreaced. Many studies investigating postoperative treatment of RC rupture have mostly focused on parameters such as postoperative pain, functionality, muscle strength, ROM and quality of life.Evaluation of these clinical parameters is necessary for patient follow-up in the early period. However, it is unclear whether the biomechanical etiologic factors continue that lead to RC rupture in the advanced period after surgery. Therefore, the objective of this study was functional performance of shoulder after arthroscopic Rotator Cuff repair and ınvestigation of performance related factors.
