Filter by:The purpose of this prospective crossover study is to determine if noninferiority exists in the use of the Thermazone cryotherapy machine when compared to Breg Polarcare, the current standard-of-care cryotherapy machine, for control of pain and reduction in postoperative narcotic medication consumption following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery. Specifically, the investigators propose to test the hypothesis that in adults having arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, the Thermazone device is non-inferior to Breg Polarcare on postoperative pain and opioid use over the initial 8 postoperative days.
Purpose: To assess whether the use of platelet-rich plasma used as an adjuvant to arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs modify the rate of re-tears (measured by MRI) compared to a control group that only underwent the isolated arthroscopic repair. Hypothesis: Platelet rich plasma used as an adjuvant to arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs decrease the rate of retears.
This clinical trial investigates the safety and the preliminary clinical benefit of the hemiverse shoulder prosthesis. Implantation of this newly developed hemi-prosthesis is intended for patients who do not qualify for a regular reverse or hemi-prosthesis due to severe medical conditions, poor bone stock or critical status of the rotator cuff. The expected benefit is, that patients will have a minimally invasive surgical procedure, only addressing the humeral shaft, however with the biomechanical advantage of a total reverse shoulder prosthesis, meaning, that with a minimally invasive surgery a comparable result as with a regular total shoulder prosthesis is accomplished. Patients will be closely monitored within the study protocol for 24 months and thereafter in regular interval as with a normal prosthetic follow-up.

Several biological augmentation procedures have recently been suggested to enhance tendon healing after Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, such as marrow-stimulating technique with microfractures of the greater tuberosity. The purpose of this study was to introduce a new technique, "greenhouse technique", and to compare the clinical outcomes with microfracture combined with suture bridge technique.
There are many conservative treatment options available for partial rotator cuff tears. However, the superiority of a certain type of injection could not be demonstrated with the available data. Our aim is to compare the effectiveness of steroid, hyaluronic acid, prp and placebo (normal saline) injections in partial rotator cuff tears by applying the same physical therapy protocol after injection.
Shoulder pain is a common complaint with the most common reason being tendinopathy and/or tearing of the rotator cuff. While many rotator cuff tears are often considered normal, age-related degenerative disorders, with either partial- or full-thickness rotator cuff tears evident in 4% of patients aged <40 years and in 54% of patients aged >60 years, once they become symptomatic and conservative management fails, they are typically repaired surgically. Data suggest that the incidence of surgery to repair and re-attach the cuff continues to rise. However, despite positive clinical results overall, reports of repair failure after surgery can range from 16%-94%, and of those that do fail, or fail to heal, generally do so within the first 3 to 6 months post-surgery. Given the aforementioned reported issues with the gold standard for the treatment of unresponsive and symptomatic partial or full rotator cuff tears (surgical repair), together with the invasiveness of this surgery and lengthy period of restricted activity, other means of treatment have been proposed. The REGENETEN scaffold/implant seeks to support new tendon growth and disrupt disease progression. This study seeks to investigate the outcome of surgical rotator cuff repair versus scaffold augmentation (using the REGENETEN scaffold) for symptomatic partial thickness rotator cuff tears.
The primary aim of this report is to determine whether there is a difference between Epinephrine and Tranexamic acid in providing visual clarity during arthroscopic rotator cuff tear repair.
Novel concepts in quantum biology of rotator cuff repair and author's novel findings on biomodulation inspired us to design a pragmatic non-pharmacological add-on rehabilitation protocol that may potentially decrease retear rates after arthroscopic repair using a knotted suturebridge technique. In this proof-of-concept trial, 146 patients will be randomized 1:1 to either a 6-weeks post-operative cryo-, photo- and electro-biomodulation protocol or a control group immobilized in a standard abduction sling for 6 weeks. Healing will be evaluated using the Sugaya classification on MRI at 1 year post-operatively.
Purpose: The purpose of this article is to examine the clinical application of AMNIOGEN® in patients with rotator cuff tear. Methods: The study was conducted on 100 adult participants with age over affected by unilateral shoulder rotator cuff tear and receiving RCT repair. The investigators divided the participants in two groups, and the group A was treated with perioperative injection of AMNIOGEN® A, group B with perioperative normal saline. Follow-up: Every 1,3,and 12months, the investigators recheck physical exmianation at OPD and recheck MRI at postoperative 3 months.
