Filter by:This is a multi-center, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled Phase II study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CM326, and to observe the Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and immumogenicity of CM326 in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP).
PHAGEFORCE is a prospective, observational registry study. The University Hospitals Leuven has approved the application of phage therapy as standard-of-care only in patients for whom no curative treatment alternatives (antibiotic and/or surgical) are available ('last-resort cases'). A multidisciplinary phage task force, referred to as the Coordination group for Bacteriophage therapy Leuven (CBL) was set up. The CBL screens patients with difficult-to-treat infections, evaluates who could benefit from phage therapy and sets up the treatment protocol. With this study, the CBL aims to gain insight in the safety and efficacy of phage therapy by integrating and optimizing phage therapy in five distinct medical disciplines (with distinct routes of administration), facilitating long-term follow-up of patients. Furthermore, this study will gain insight in the biodistribution and exact mechanisms of action of phage therapy and thus be able to provide standardized guidelines for each patient population and route of administration.
Control of bleeding is very important during endoscopic sinus surgery. Saline heated up to 50°C causes dilatation of vessels and edema without nasal mucosa necrosis. It also promotes the clotting cascade so helps in having a bloodless procedure. This randomized controlled trial was conducted on 60 patients divided into two groups (30 each). Group A was the interventional group in which patients were irrigated with saline of 50°C during surgery. Group B was the control group where room temperature saline was used. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lebrikizumab in adult participants with chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps treated with intranasal corticosteroids. The study will last about 18 months.
While it is known that Dupilumab has profound effects in patients with CRSwNP, these are often seen months later after treatment initiation; however, in practice, patients often endorse feeling significantly better within days of their first injection. No studies have investigated the molecular basis for such an acute change. This study proposes that specific cytokine changes in phenotype in addition to microbiome and oscillometry effects play a synergistic role in producing this effect.
The primary purpose of this study is to assess the effect of verekitug (UPB-101) on the endoscopically determined size and extend of nasal polyps in participants with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and to assess the safety and tolerability of verekitug (UPB-101) compared to placebo.
The goal of this observational study is to define the prevalence of chronic rhinosinusitis in patients with intestinal bowel disease. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Evaluate the influence of chronic rhinosinusitis on the quality of life of patients with intestinal bowel disease - Evaluate any relationships between chronic rhinosinusitis and the clinical course of intestinal bowel disease -Evaluate the influence of chronic rhinosinusitis on the response to biologic therapies for intestinal bowel disease - Evaluate mucosal barrier damage in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and intestinal bowel disease by collecting blood and stool samples according to clinical practice - Presence of enterotoxin sensitization to S. Aureus in patients with intestinal bowel disease - Histopathological evaluation: reevaluation of biopsy slides performed according to clinical practice will be performed in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and intestinal bowel disease in order to quantify the proportion of eosinophilic infiltrate at the intestinal level and to assess any differences from the population with intestinal bowel disease only. Patients with intestinal bowel disease afferent to our outpatient chronic inflammatory bowel disease clinic at CEMAD will be enrolled.
During this project, the investigators want to explore in vitro changes in basal cells and the crosstalk with residing immune cells as potential pathogenic mechanisms in CRSwNP vs healthy controls by using surgically resected patient samples.
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a condition of persistent sinonasal mucosal inflammation which affects 11.9% of the US population. Mepolizumab is newly approved to treat chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP, the spaces inside nose and head are swollen and inflamed) and acts booking interleukin-5 (IL-5) a protein implicated in the inflammatory process. We aim to use Single-cell RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq, a method of genetically 'barcoding' cells to allow gene expression to be profiled at the level of individual cells) to study the effects of IL-5 blockade on the generation and maintenance of nasal adaptive immune responses, in CRS subjects.
The aim of the present study will be to evaluate in conscripts at the military induction board the prevalence of rhinosinusitis, the prevalence of HPV vaccinations, the prevalence of hearing impairments and the prevalence of long-COVID symptoms and further, to evaluate different factors that influence on the one hand the prevalence (urban-bred, non-urban-bred) and on the other hand symptoms (ENT-surgeries in medical history). Further, we want to evaluate if there is a correlation between subjective symptoms and apparated-based diagnostic investigations. Therefore, questionnaires and data of medical examinations, aquired routinely at the military induction board, will be analysed.
