NCT ID: NCT00495365 Terminated - Anemia Clinical Trials

A Dose Conversion Study of Epoetin Alfa in Subjects With the Anemia of Chronic Kidney Disease.

Start date: June 2003
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to evaluate hemoglobin stability in subjects who had received darbepoetin alfa for a minimum of 3 months prior to study entry who were then converted to epoetin alfa at the same dosing frequency to maintain a hemoglobin level of 12 plus or minus 1 g/dL (range 11-13- g/dL).

NCT ID: NCT00472082 Terminated - Clinical trials for Kidney Transplantation

Early Conversion From Tacrolimus to Efalizumab Maintenance Therapy in Kidney Transplant Recipients

Start date: May 2007
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The toxicity of calcineurin inhibitors(CNI)is a major factor limiting the success of renal transplantation. This protocol aims to replace the calcineurin inhibitor, tacrolimus, with efalizumab early after transplantation in patients with mild impairment of renal function in order to minimize the toxicities of CNI.

NCT ID: NCT00453973 Terminated - Anemia Clinical Trials

Extension Study to Evaluate Safety and Tolerability of Peginesatide for Long-Term Treatment of Anemia in Participants With CKD (EU)

Start date: November 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long term safety and tolerability of peginesatide for the maintenance of hemoglobin in participants with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who had received at least 24 weeks of peginesatide treatment in an earlier study.

NCT ID: NCT00450333 Terminated - Anemia Clinical Trials

Dynepo Infrequent Dosing Study

Start date: October 30, 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate non-inferiority of efficacy between twice weekly and once weekly dose schedule of Dynepo in previously erythropoietin (EPO)-naive patients, as measured by haemoglobin at week 24 and secondly to demonstrate the non-inferiority of efficacy between once weekly and once every two weeks dose schedules of Dynepo in patients previously stable on EPO, as measured by Hb over Weeks 16 to 24.

NCT ID: NCT00399256 Terminated - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Failure

Improved Estimation of GFR by Cystatin C in Preventing Contrast Induced Nephropathy by NAC or Zn

Start date: March 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background Prevention of contrast media (CM) induced nephropathy (CIN) by pharmacological prophylaxis (e.g. N–acetylcysteine; NAC) is controversially discussed. So far, in all interventional studies assessment of kidney function was based on measurements of serum creatinine although this surrogate biomarker has several limitations. We investigated the antioxidants NAC and zinc (Zn) for the prevention of CIN by monitoring concomitantly serum levels of creatinine and cystatin C.

NCT ID: NCT00384995 Terminated - Clinical trials for Kidney Failure, Acute

Bicarbonate v Saline to Prevent Contrast Nephropathy

Start date: December 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Slowing of kidney function occurs in a minority of people given dye during angiography. The purpose of this study is to compare two different types of fluid given into a vein to reduce the risk of kidney injury: salt in water or baking soda in water.

NCT ID: NCT00379366 Terminated - Thrombosis Clinical Trials

External Ionizing Radiation to Prevent Restenosis on Haemodialysis Vascular Access

RASTA
Start date: December 2006
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Although ionizing radiations have been proposed for the prevention of intimal hyperplasia in coronary and peripheral arteries, information is lacking on how irradiation may prevent neointimal smooth-muscle cell proliferation and restenosis on prosthetic haemodialysis vascular access. We will assess the preventive effect of one dose of radiations (14 Gy) administered transcutaneously one day after dilatation of stenosis on prosthetic haemodialysis vascular access in a randomized controlled trial with a standardized clinical and ultrasonographic one-year follow-up.

NCT ID: NCT00372489 Terminated - Anemia Clinical Trials

Extension Study to Evaluate Safety and Tolerability of Peginesatide for Long-Term Treatment of Anemia in Participants With CKD

Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long term safety and tolerability of peginesatide for the maintenance of hemoglobin in participants with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who had received at least 24 weeks of peginesatide treatment in an earlier study.

NCT ID: NCT00364494 Terminated - Kidney Failure Clinical Trials

Hemodilution and Outcome in Cardiac Surgery

Start date: November 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

An hematocrit of 21-25% is supposed to perform the best organ protection during cardiopulmonary bypass for cardiac surgery. The investigators want to establish the best timing for a transfusion (in patients with a predicted low hematocrit during cardiopulmonary bypass) and the efficacy of preprocedural hemodilution (in patients with a predicted high hematocrit during cardiopulmonary bypass) in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

NCT ID: NCT00358722 Terminated - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Failure

An Evaluation of the Long-term Safety of Magnesium Iron Hydroxycarbonate

ALCON
Start date: July 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Fermagate is a phosphate binder that absorbs phosphate from food, reducing the amount that the body can absorb. The purpose of this study it to look at the safety of fermagate over longer periods of time.
