NCT ID: NCT03964818 Completed - Clinical trials for Pressure-related Osteitis

Pressure Sore-related Osteitis Treated by Flap Coverage and Short Antibiotic Regimen

SCAR
Start date: May 20, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Pressure ulcers associated with osteitis are frequent among patients with spinal cord injury (SCI), and optimal management is not well known. In a French referral center, debridement and flap coverage surgeries performed simultaneously are followed by a short antibiotic treatment targeting the bacteria involved. The aim of the study is to evaluate patient's outcome at Day 45 after surgery, and identify factors associated with failure.

NCT ID: NCT03912467 Completed - Pressure Ulcer Clinical Trials

Prevalence of Pressure Ulcers Among Critically Ill Patients and Factors Associated With Their Occurrence in the ICU

PRESSURE
Start date: June 1, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The prevalence of and risk factors for pressure ulcers (PUs) in critically ill patients have been poorly studied. The main objective of this study was to describe the prevalence of PUs in critically ill patients. Secondary objectives were to describe PUs, means of prevention of PUs, and factors associated with occurrence of PUs in the ICU.

NCT ID: NCT03900455 Completed - Pressure Ulcer Risk Clinical Trials

Prevention of Pressure Ulcer on the Sacrum

Multischiume
Start date: October 21, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the present study was to assess whether the application of a multilayered dressing made of hydrocellular polyurethane foam conformed to the sacral area (MSP) in addition to standard preventive care reduces the rate of pressure ulcer (PU) and their severity in population at risk admitted in acute care Hospital.

NCT ID: NCT03889223 Completed - Clinical trials for Anesthesia, Conduction

Ultrasonographic and Comfort Comparison of Sitting Fetal Cross-legged Position With Lateral Decubitus Fetal Position

Start date: March 20, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A prosperous neuraxial anesthesia positioning ensures a raised chance of successful needle placement. The primary aim is to compare "Sitting Cross-legged Fetal Position -SCF" with "Lateral Decubitus Fetal Position-LDF" anatomically via sonography. Secondary aim is to compare their comfort.

NCT ID: NCT03884634 Completed - Pressure Ulcer Clinical Trials

Efficacy of the Dabir Surfaces Micropressure Overlay for Decubitus Ulcer Prevention During Cardiac Surgery

Start date: March 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

This is a systematic random sampling study of the effects of the Dabir Micropressure Overlay on perioperative pressure injuries during cardiac surgery.

NCT ID: NCT03824886 Completed - Pressure Ulcer Clinical Trials

Enhancing SKIN Health and Safety in Aged CARE

SKINCARE
Start date: October 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aged long-term care receivers are affected by various adverse skin conditions like pressure ulcers, incontinence-associated dermatitis, dryness, intertrigo and many more. Prevention of these skin problems and the provision of general hygiene and skin care activities are key areas of nursing practice. Numerous condition specific guidelines are available and are implemented separately. The more guidelines exist, the more difficult it is for nurses to implement them all. On the other hand, there is a huge overlap in terms of aetiology, pathogenesis and prevention of aforementioned skin conditions. The overall aim of this trial is to test the feasibility and to estimate possible effects of a comprehensive skin care package targeting main nursing relevant skin problems at the same time. Therefore a study will be performed in nursing homes of the state of Berlin comparing the skin care package to standard care. Residents' safety and subjective wellbeing will increase combined with improvements in professional competence of nurses. An advisory board consisting of international experts agreed already to supervise the trial.

NCT ID: NCT03815240 Completed - Clinical trials for Pressure Ulcer Prevention

Comparing the Effects of Three Different Dressings on the Cutaneous Response of Sacral Skin

Start date: February 8, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Skin functional parameters such as erythema or stratum corneum hydration have been successfully used in PU prevention research. These parameters are able to discriminate effects of different loading intensities and to measure PU preventive device performance. The overall aim of this study is to measure the effects of Mepilex® Border Sacrum Dressing on the skin structure and function during mechanical loading compared to (1) no dressing, (2) ALLEVYN Life Sacrum Dressing and (3) Optifoam® Gentle Liquitrap Sacrum Dressing.

NCT ID: NCT03753581 Completed - Clinical trials for Electric Stimulation Therapy

Effectiveness of Microcurrents Therapy in Pressure Ulcers in Elderly People

Start date: October 31, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect on the healing of pressure ulcers in elderly people using a care protocol plus the application of microcurrent patches during 12 hours per day compared to the effect of the same protocol plus placebo electric stimulation.

NCT ID: NCT03725787 Completed - Pressure Ulcer Clinical Trials

Pressure Ulcer Incidence Cat. II+ on a Static Air Mattress: a Multicenter Cohort Study in Nursing Home Residents at Risk

Start date: March 4, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Pressure Ulcers are a serious and common problem for residents admitted to long-term care facilities and community care patients. They represent a major burden to patients, carers and the Healthcare system, affecting approximately 1 in 20 community patients. International guidelines recommend the use of pressure redistribution support surfaces, systematic patient repositioning and preventive skin care to prevent pressure ulcers. It has been acknowledged that a significant proportion of pressure ulcers are avoidable. The prevalence of pressure ulcers is 1 of the 4 common harms recorded in the UK NHS Safety Thermometer, a local improvement tool for measuring, monitoring and analyzing patient harms across a range of settings, including nursing homes, community nursing and hospitals on a monthly basis. Static or reactive overlay mattresses are an example of a low-tech constant low-pressure support. Static air mattresses maintain a continuous low air pressure that exerts a pressure redistributing effect. Serraes and Beeckman found a pressure ulcer incidence of 5.1% in patients placed on static air support (mattress overlay, heel wedge and seat cushion) in a high risk population in a nursing home setting in Belgium. The CuroCell SAM PRO (Care of Sweden AB) is a static air mattress overlay system used as prevent and treat pressure ulcers (up to category 3) and for pain therapy. The aim of current study is to measure pressure ulcer incidence on the CuroCell Sam PRO static air mattress in nursing home residents at risk for pressure ulcer development over a 30-day period in Belgium.

NCT ID: NCT03685929 Completed - Pressure Ulcer Clinical Trials

Histopathological Comparison Between Superficial Pressure Ulcers and Incontinence-associated Dermatitis

Start date: October 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to identify differences and similarities between superficial pressure ulcers (category II and III) and incontinence-associated dermatitis (category IIA) at tissue level. Skin biopsies will be obtained from 30 patients with pressure ulcers (n = 10), incontinence-associated dermatitis (n = 10), and combined lesions (n = 10). The results from the histopathologic examination will be compared with the clinical diagnosis by wound care experts, which will be based on photographs and relevant patients' characteristics.
