Eligibility

Inclusion Criteria:

• Patient in the emergency department
• Failed 2 or more conventional attempts at vascular access *or*
• history of requiring US guided vascular access
• US Fellowship trained physician available

Exclusion Criteria:

• basilic vein access is contraindicated
• patient undergoing advanced resuscitation
