Filter by:A 3-dose HPV vaccination scheme has shown to be safe and immunogenic in people living with HIV (PLWH), although evidence on 1-dose, which is important to improve coverage, is scarce. Available HPV vaccines only prevent new infections. Since a large fraction of WLWH is already infected with HPV (>50%), vaccines' efficacy to prevent HPV infections (and therefore cervical disease) in this population is limited. Current WHO cervical cancer screening guidelines recommend treatment of the transformation zone (TZ) of WLWH who harbor HPV infections either at initial screening or one year later. Therefore, HPV vaccination at the time of the screening may improve vaccines efficacy conferring protection to newly growing cells of the treated TZ against HPV infections/re-infections. Consequently, a dual-intervention of HPV vaccination and HPV-based cervical screening in WLWH may alleviate the burden of HPV-related disease by improving HPV vaccination efficacy while extending cervical screening intervals. Nevertheless, implementing the dual-intervention may be challenging particularly in some contexts without well-established cervical cancer screening such as sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries. However, in these countries, at least 60% of PLWH regularly attend ARV clinics to be monitored and receive ARV treatment (cART). Therefore, integrating the dual-intervention into ARV clinics seems to be an efficient approach to reduce loss to follow-up while improving overall coverages of HPV vaccination and cervical screening. Such integration may also facilitate the implementation of a platform for the delivery of other HPV-related preventive measures such as HPV therapeutic vaccines. Nevertheless, little is known about the efficacy of HPV vaccination in WLWH to prevent HPV infections and HPV-related diseases, especially in young adults. Moreover, evidence on how best to conduct cervical cancer prevention, particularly recently released WHO guidelines, through ARV clinics is limited. Therefore, IARC/WHO in collaboration with HRP/WHO and colleagues in SSA proposes to conduct a hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial (H2VICTORY) to evaluate the effectiveness of the dual-intervention of HPV vaccination and HPV-based cervical screening to reduce HPV infections (and therefore, the risk of cervical cancer) in WLWH aged 25-35 years while conducting implementation research to identify facilitators and barriers for adoption and sustainability of proven evidence-based cervical cancer prevention approaches integrated into ARV clinics across sub-Saharan Africa.
Women living with HIV are unsufficiently screened for cervix cancer although they have a higher risk of developping it, resulting in many obstacles. Offering a new screening technique, more accessible and which doesn't require gynecologic examination, could help improving this coverage rate. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) screening have a higher-performance for cervix cancer than smear test. Self-collected vaginal swabs are as efficient as vaginal swabs performed by clinicians. They are also shown as acceptable among general population but only one study in South Africa has been performed on women living with HIV. In addition, recent studies on urine self-sampling for high risk HPV (HR-HPV) screening report satisfactory performance. The main hypothesis is that self-collected vaginal swabs and urine self-sampling are also acceptable among women living with HIV in the CoreVIH Ile de France Nord (CoreVIH) cohort.
In Japan, nationwide prophylactic HPV vaccination was implemented in 2010; a bivalent vaccine was given from 2010 to 2012, and a quadrivalent vaccine from 2012. However, the program essentially ceased in June 2013. 1. Our first objective is to examine the prevalence of 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58 targeted by the nonavalent HPV vaccine in young Japanese women, and identify changes in the prevalence of these HPV types from 2011- 2012 (as reported in JHERS-2016; Sasagawa T, J Med Virol, 2016) to the present time (2020-2021). Especially, the investigators will focus on the prevalence of HPV16 and 18 in women aged 21-26 years and compare these data to those of the previous study. 2. The investigators will assess the prevalence of HPV16 and 18 in women aged 16-18 years and compare these data to those of the HPV vaccine era (2010-2013). 3. The investigators will explore the prevalence of other high-risk HPV types (35, 39, 51, 56, 59, and 68), 11 probable high-risk types (26, 30,34, 53, 66, 67, 69, 70, 73, 82, and 85), and SILs in Japanese young women, since these types might be causative HPV types for cervical cancer in the future after world-wide HPV vaccination. Currently, it is unclear whether HPV vaccination has reduced the prevalence of HPV16 and 18 in Japan. Our previous study (JHERS-2016; performed during 2011-2012; Sasagawa T, J Med Virol, 2016), the only population-based study on HPV prevalence at the commencement of prophylactic HPV vaccination in Japan, included prevalence data for HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18 and the associated cervical abnormalities. The investigators hypothesize that the prevalence of HPV16 and 18 and the associated diseases (SILs) decreased significantly in women aged 21-26 years in the present, vaccinated group compared to that in similar aged women in 2010-2012 who were unvaccinated. In contrast, the prevalence of HPV and associated diseases may not differ in women aged 27-39 years between the two eras; such subjects may thus serve as a negative control group. Also, HPV prevalence may be higher in present women aged 16-18 years than in women in that age range during the vaccine era, as the former group have not been vaccinated against HPV. The prevalence rates of the other unique high-risk types, namely HPV35, 39, 51, 56, 59, and 68, and probable high-risk types, HPV26, 20, 34, 53, 66, 67, 67, 70, 73, 82, and 85, are unlikely to have been affected by HPV vaccination. However, it is important to monitor the prevalences of these types and the associated SILs, because the types numbered above may become more significant as currently common HPV types are eliminated in the near future.

This research trial studies the incidence of human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated disease in screening Indian men who have sex with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive men. Gathering health information over time from Indian men who have sex with men (MSM) may help doctors determine how many HIV -positive MSM develop new HPV infections and how many HIV-positive MSM have HPV related disease.
Consecutive inclusion and collection of information for all women attending the Cervical Disease Unit with an histological diagnosis of grade 2 or grade 3 CIN during the last 5 years, from January 2012 to December 2016, which meet the inclusion criteria, have voluntarily manifested pregnancy intendedness and had a minimum follow-up time of 2 years and a maximum of 7. The aim is to evaluate whether the HSIL resolution rates (CIN 2 or CIN 3) are sufficient to support conservative management.
In Singapore, the current cervical cancer screening uptake among women in Singapore has remained at low 50% since its introduction in 2004. It has been widely reported that under-screened women have the highest risk of cervical cancer. Self-sampling HPV DNA screening may be a solution to the low uptake rates of local women, particularly among the under-screened population in Singapore. Self-sampling comprises women using a swab to obtain samples from their vagina. In this study, we are comparing the sensitivity of detecting HPV positive women using HPV DNA test with self-sampling using flocked swab with the current physician sampling method. We also aim to determine acceptability of self-sampling HPV DNA test using flocked swab in cervical cancer screening. Designed as a feasibility study, it will comprise a prospective study of 300 women attending clinics in National University Hospital (NUH) and National Cancer Institute Singapore (NCIS).
AdAM is a prospective, randomized, controlled, double-blinded, monocentric trial in patients receiving surgical therapy due to anal HPV infection. Aim of the study is to evaluate efficacy of combination therapy (surgical therapy + topical Imiquimod-therapy). It is planned to include 200 patients. 100 patients receive surgical therapy+ topical Imiquimod therapy, 100 patients receive surgical therapy + topical Placebo therapy
This study evaluates the safety and tolerability of the investigational drug EF-022 in the treatment of adult patients with Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP). Patients will be administered EF-022, either intramuscular or subcutaneous, for a period of 6 months. Preliminary effect of the drug on the disease will be evaluated by following the number and severity of the lesions in the respiratory tract and the effect on voice changes.
Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis in children caused by HPV 6,11 can be a life threatening condition resulting in surgical interventions. The maturing and disintegrating papillomas are the sources for the subsequent HPV relapses and immunization might slow down or even prevent this ongoing process. After an initial immunological and ear-nose-throat (ENT) assessment children with at least 3 relapses in their patient history will be vaccinated with 4-valent HPV vaccine according to the following schedule: 0., 2., 6. months. It will be followed by an immunological and 3 ENT examinations to assess response to vaccination.
