Population-based studies and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials suggest that statins may decrease the incidence of acute pancreatitis. SIMBA aims to investigate the effect of simvastatin on the incidence of new episodes of pancreatitis in recurrent acute pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis.
