Filter by:Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is difficult to treat as collapse frequently occurs after core decompression (CD). This may be due to the failure to provide structural support during revascularization and healing. Reports of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) packing of the femoral head after CD for ONFH have noted favorable results. This study was undertaken to determine whether the addition of PMMA packing to CD provides any benefit to progression-free survival (PFS) and conversion to total hip arthroplasty-free survival (CFS). Secondary objectives were to assess for differences in functional outcomes and predictive factors for progression of the disease.
Numerous studies describing surgical treatments to preserve hip replacements has several controversies and none of these procedures are universally accepted nor have compelling evidence for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). With developing a newly approach osteonecrotic device surgical procedure to support the regeneration of necrotic bone and articular cartilage in vivo, this will be the first randomized-controlled feasibility study to determine its safety in ONFH patients.
This study is a Post Market Clinical Follow up study to fulfil the post market surveillance obligations according to Medical Device Directive and European Medical Device Vigilance System (MEDDEV) 2.12-2. The data collected from this study will serve the purpose of confirming safety and performance of the Avenir Müller Hip Stem.
The investigators suppose that the impact of bisphosphonate therapy is beneficial on the bone during the growth period with few adverse events.
Participants who choose to participate in this study, will either have their tendon repaired to tendon, so-called tenotomy repair, or tendon repaired to bone, so-called peel repair.
One of the most serious sequelae of femoral neck fractures (FNFs) is avascular necrosis (AVN) and nonunion, and this translates to a significant morbidity and mortality. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the etiologies and management of FNFs in our institution and its relationship to the development of AVN or nonunion.
Patients who had bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw in stage II were allocated in two groups randomly : In group1, 10 patients underwent debridement and primary closer of the area,in group 2 , patients received Phenytoin + tetracycline topically in the debridement area.Wound dehiscence , infection and pain were in 1,6 and 12 months after treatment.
A Phase 1 Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Single and Multiple Ascending Dose Study of the Safety and Tolerability of Intravenous LLP2A-Alendronate in Adult Men and Women with Osteopenia Secondary to Corticosteroids
The trial detected mRNA expression of several bone repair-related genes, including Runx2, in the femoral head and neck of patients with osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH) . Runx2 expression was compared with that of identical tissue from osteoarthritis patients to identify expression in necrotic femoral head tissue, which will help clarify the role and possible clinical significance of Runx2 in femoral head necrosis, bone repair and reconstruction.
In this study, the aim is to identify the modifications responsible for aseptic osteonecrosis of the femoral head and its structural evolution by the association of the micro scanner analysis and Raman spectrometry performed on the femoral heads removed during hip replacements. The study of femoral heads will allow the analysis of bone tissue at two different scales, both correlated with the biomechanical properties of the bone. Also, the association with preliminary MRI analysis will provide pathogenic explanations correlated to these modifications.
