Circulating Biomarkers in Oropharyngeal Cancers

CIRCOS
Start date: December 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational longitudinal study is to learn about circulating tumor Human Papilloma Virus-DNA (ctHPV-DNA) as a biomarker for HPV positive oropharyngeal cancer and cancer of unknown primary of the head and neck. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Can ctHPV-DNA be used for treatment evaluation in HPV positive oropharyngeal cancer and cancer of unknown primary of the head and neck? - Can circulating HPV-DNA be used as a biomarker for recurrent disease during surveillance? Participants will be asked to leave plasma samples at diagnose, at the end of treatment and at every clinical follow-up. The patients are there own controls.

NCT ID: NCT05894083 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Oropharyngeal Cancer

A Phase II Study for p16+ Oropharyngeal Cancer PerSonalized De-escalation Treatment at University of MIchigan (CuSToMIze)

Start date: April 27, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Single center, non-randomized Phase II study enrolling Stage I-II p16+ oropharyngeal cancer patients to one of two de-escalation treatment paradigms: (1) receive surgery followed by observation or risk-adjusted adjuvant radiation (+/-chemo), or (2) individualized adaptive definitive chemoradiation (CRT).

NCT ID: NCT05880797 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Human Papilloma Virus

Multidimensional and Multimodal Profiling of Oropharyngeal Carcinoma

Start date: July 7, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to better understand the natural history of oropharyngeal carcinoma (OPC), with or without an association with the human papilloma virus (HPV). For this study, the investigators plan to collect blood from OPC patients prior to treatment and at six subsequent time points.

NCT ID: NCT05862792 Recruiting - Post Operative Pain Clinical Trials

Liposomal Bupivacaine and Transoral Robotic Surgery

Start date: June 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is for patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. We want to learn more about how we can optimize pain control in patients who undergo transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Our goal is to determine if a local anesthetic called EXPAREL® (Liposomal Bupivacaine) impacts postsurgical pain and swallow function in patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma undergoing TORS. EXPAREL® is an FDA-approved anesthetic drug that provides long-lasting and precise pain relief when injected into the surgical wound. Our study team wants to determine if injecting EXPAREL® into the surgical wound will provide better pain relief and swallow function when compared to patients who do not undergo postoperative EXPAREL® injection. Both options for postoperative pain control are considered standard of care for patients undergoing TORS.

NCT ID: NCT05849142 Not yet recruiting - Oropharynx Cancer Clinical Trials

Feasibility of Adaptive Radiation Therapy for Human-papilloma Virus-positive Oropharyngeal Cancer Patients on MRIdian Linac

OPC-V
Start date: July 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this research is to determine whether it is feasible to treat patients with Human Papilloma Virus positive (HPV-positive) oropharyngeal tumors on a specialized treatment machine (MRIdian linear accelerator [Linac]), which utilizes magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for radiation planning and delivery.

NCT ID: NCT05814549 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Oropharyngeal Cancer

A Study Using Human Papillomavirus (HPV) DNA Testing to Detect HPV-Related Oropharyngeal Cancer (OPC)

Start date: March 31, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The researchers think that a blood test (NavDx®) may be able to identify cancer early by looking for circulating DNA from Human Papillomavirus/HPV. Circulating DNA are small pieces of genes that are released into the bloodstream. The purpose of this study is to find out whether using this blood test to test for HPV DNA will help detect HPV-related Oropharyngeal Cancer/OPC.

NCT ID: NCT05800574 Recruiting - Oropharynx Cancer Clinical Trials

Lymphoscintigraphy Directed Elective Neck Radiation for p16+ Favorable Risk Oropharynx Cancer

Start date: March 14, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective, phase II, stratified single arm investigation for favorable prognosis in p16+ oropharynx cancer patients with either node negative or malignant neck adenopathy with lymphoscintigraphy mapping confined to the ipsilateral neck.

NCT ID: NCT05799144 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Recurrent Oropharyngeal Carcinoma

pBI-11 & TA-HPV (With Pembrolizumab as Treatment for Patients w/Advanced, PD-L1 CPS≥1, hrHPV+ Oropharyngeal Cancer

Start date: May 16, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This phase II trial tests how well pB1-11 and human papillomavirus tumor antigen (TA-HPV) vaccines in combination with pembrolizumab work in treating patients with oropharyngeal cancer that has come back (recurrent) or that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic) and that is PD-L1 and human papillomavirus (HPV) positive. Oropharyngeal cancer is a type of head and neck cancer involving structures in the back of the throat (the oropharynx), such as the non-bony back roof of the mouth (soft palate), sides and back wall of the throat, tonsils, and back third of the tongue. Scientists have found that some strains or types of a virus called HPV can cause oropharyngeal cancer. pBI-11 is a circular deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) (plasmid) vaccine that promotes antibody, cytotoxic T cell, and protective immune responses. TA-HPV is an investigational recombinant vaccina virus derived from a strain of the vaccina virus which was widely used for smallpox vaccination. Vaccination with this TA-HPV vaccine may stimulate the immune system to mount a cytotoxic T cell response against tumor cells positive for HPV, resulting in decreased tumor growth. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread by inhibiting the PD-1 receptor. These investigational vaccines could cause or enhance an immune response in the body against HPV, during which time the activity of pembrolizumab against oropharyngeal cancer associated with HPV may be strengthened. These drugs in combination may be more effective in increasing the ability of the immune system to fight oropharyngeal cancer than pembrolizumab alone.

NCT ID: NCT05798780 Recruiting - Oropharynx Cancer Clinical Trials

The ENHANCE Study: Exercise and Nutrition in Head And Neck CancEr Survivors

Start date: April 6, 2023

Multi-Site Trial of Navigation vs Treatment as Usual for Delays in Starting Adjuvant Therapy

ENDURE
Start date: October 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effectiveness of a navigation-based multilevel intervention (ENDURE) with treatment as usual at decreasing delays starting guideline-adherent postoperative radiation therapy among patients with head and neck cancer. The main questions the trial aims to answer are: - Does ENDURE decrease delays starting PORT relative to treatment as usual? - Does ENDURE decrease racial disparities in delays starting PORT relative to treatment as usual - What are the mechanisms through which ENDURE reduces treatment delays?
