Filter by:Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition that affects 40% to 62% of the population aged over 60 years with major consequences especially on the cardiovascular system. This syndrome consists of a staff of the pharyngeal muscles. These muscles are also involved in swallowing phenomena and chews, or many elderly patients are subjected to a mixed diet, logically leading to atrophy of the muscles aerodigestive crossroads. Muscle wasting ENT induced a mixed food could promote collapsibility of VAS, exposing the individual to a higher risk of apnea and hypopnea during sleep. The objective of this study is to determine if there is a significant increase in the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in the elderly patients residing in long term care units, receiving a mixed food compared to residents in supply to normal texture.

ESTAMPS is a randomized clinical trial with a crossover design: Main objective is to compare impact of 2 different Mandibular Retention Device (MRD) designs (Narval MRD CadCam (CC) design vs Narval MRD traditional (trad) design) on upper airway volume secondary objectives: To evaluate the maximal mandibular propulsion according to the type of MRD To evaluate benefits on quality of life, sleepiness and OSA symptoms To evaluate impact of MRD design on therapy efficacy and tolerance To evaluate impact of MRD design on mandibular positioning
Hypothesis: to address if diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea before or during the extending check-up is a risk factor toward metastasis for melanoma stage ≥ tIIaN0M0 Study design: Adult patients with a Breslow's Thickness ≥ 1mm coming to the surgery consultation will have a nocturnal oximetry for screening of obstructive sleep apnea. Patients having an abnormal nocturnal oximetry will be explored by polysomnography in order to detect sleep apnea syndrome. Patients with sleep apnea will be treated. Standard dermatologic follow-up over a 3 years period with thoraco-abdominal-pelvic and cerebral CT-scan and a lymph-node ultrasound every 6 months will be performed.
This project is focused on the treatment of severe obstructive sleep apnea with pulmonary artery denervation (PADN). Although it has now been proved that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the primary treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, on the other hand, there is evidence that 25 to 50% of patients can not tolerate CPAP. The investigators previously reported the safety and efficacy of pulmonary artery denervation (PADN) for treatment of pulmonary hypertension. Excessive sympathetic activation play an important role in the occurrence and development of OSA and cause cardiovascular events. It is worth evaluating the feasibility and tolerance of introducing PADN at the severe stage of obstructive sleep apnea. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to evaluate the safety and feasibility of PADN in the treatment of severe OSA.

This project is focused on the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea in the acute phase of stroke. Stroke is a frequent pathology with a high morbidity and mortality rate. Although it has now been proved that obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a risk factor of stroke, on the other hand, there is evidence that 50 to 70% of patients in the acute phase of stroke have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) based on an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of ≥ 10. OSA is associated with worse functional outcomes and higher mortality in the post-stroke period. Profound hemodynamic fluctuations and hypoxia generated by sleep apnea are likely to aggravate cerebral ischemia, particularly in the acute phase of stroke in the potentially reversible ischemic penumbra. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the primary treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. Yet, to our knowledge, there have been very few studies aimed at demonstrating the value of CPAP in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea in the acute phase of stroke. Only one randomised trial has provided the means to document neurological improvement at mid term (1 month) in a targeted population. Before undertaking a comparative study evaluating the efficacy of CPAP in the acute phase of ischemic stroke, it is worth evaluating the feasibility and tolerance of introducing CPAP at the very early stage of ischemic stroke. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to evaluate the feasibility of CPAP in the treatment of OSA in the acute phase of ischemic stroke.
The study is designed to investigate the natural course of Primary snoring in 1-2 years or more and the different effect of drug and surgical treatment applied in children with obstructive sleep apnea (OSAS) by comparing the polysomnography(PSG) and sleep questionaires in 6 months after treatment.
The study will evaluate the post-operative morphine-sparing effect, pain reduction, and side effects of a continuous ketamine infusion after tonsillectomy in pediatric patients.
