In addition to being admitted to the hospital, unknown environment, unknown people in this environment, unknown equipment, scary voices, thought of physical harm, fears such as separation from the family, etc. Different degrees of stress occur for reasons. In addition to these, children face many problems related to physical limitations caused by hospitalization due to illness, and they experience negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, and anxiety. On the day the child is admitted to the hospital, the child and his family experience high levels of anxiety. Children's anxiety and fear may negatively affect their ability to understand the explanations to be made correctly, to interpret events realistically, to make appropriate decisions, and to participate in care. Various treatment methods such as therapeutic games, art therapy, drawing, occupational therapy, animal-assisted practices/activities (HDU) are applied in the hospital environment to improve the child's coping skills and to reduce negative emotions such as pain, anxiety, stress, and fear. The animal-assisted practice is activities that offer various opportunities to improve the quality of life and provide entertainment and therapeutic benefits. Although the use of animal-assisted applications is widespread abroad, its use in our country and the rate of reflection on the results of the study is quite limited. In the researches, interaction with such animals; has been determined to be psychologically, emotionally, socially, and physically supportive in children. It is planned to use goldfish in this study. Aquarium fish is one of the ornamental fish sold in more than 125 countries and more than 2500 species globally. No study has been conducted on the effects of aquarium fish, which are reported to have positive effects and provide calming when applied with adult age groups within the scope of animal-assisted practices, on anxiety, fear, psychological and emotional well-being in children treated in a clinical setting. This study will be conducted to examine the effects of animal-assisted practice on anxiety, fear, the psychological and emotional well-being of children hospitalised.

Motor impairments are prominent in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopment disorders, and these impairments often impact the individual's ability to engage in organized physical activity programs (OPA). While many studies have identified dance and creative movement to be retrospectively and anecdotally therapeutic, there remains a paucity of literature regarding outcomes associated with these programs, and specifically, their impact on (1) perceived and objective gross and fine motor skills, (2) perceived ability to succeed in related or divergent goals or tasks, (3) quality of life for affected individuals and their caregivers. (4) adaptive function and socialization, (5) social communication This study explores the impact of organized dance and creative movement classes on children with autism (ages 8-12) and their caregivers. Participants will complete a set of surveys and assessments designed to measure the above metrics (labeled 1, 2, and 3) at their first study visit. This initial assessment is expected to take place within two weeks prior to beginning the intervention (either a wait period or a series of 1-hour dance classes, which children will attend weekly for 10 weeks). The second and final study visit will consist of a similar set of surveys and assessments designed to measure the same metrics within the two weeks following completion of the dance class series. Participants who have completed the wait period at this point will then begin their set of 10 weekly dance classes. Expected duration of participation in the study is no longer than 14 weeks in total.

The investigators will investigate the existence of alcohol drinking among children living under adult supervision and care, living within the communities. The investigators will focus on the age group 6-13 years overlapping with the recommended age for primary school attendance. The project is approaching the research topic using quantitative and qualitative methods. The TREAT C-AUD research project will therefore document to which degree alcohol drinking is a problem among children in Mbale, Eastern Uganda.
The overall RISE project aims to adapt, optimise and test a low-cost parenting programme for families in three southeastern European countries (North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania). Therefore, the investigators apply the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) and conduct the study over 3 phases: during the first Phase (Preparation) the feasibility of the intervention and the assessment and implementation procedures were tested in a small pilot study. In the second Phase (Optimization), 8 different programme combinations were tested in order to identify the most effective and cost-effective combination in the three countries. Now, in the third Phase (Evaluation), the optimised intervention identified in Phase 2 will be tested in a randomised controlled trial. The investigators also apply dimensions of the RE-AIM framework to maximise the reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation within the existing service infrastructure and maintained use of the new intervention. For the current Phase 3, the investigators aim to recruit a total of 864 parents (n = 288 per country) of children with elevated child behaviour problems aged 2 to 9 years. After pre-assessment the families will be randomly assigned to the intervention group or the control group. Parents in the intervention group will receive a parenting programme (5 sessions, Parenting for Lifelong Health for Young Children, PLH-YC) and the parents in the control condition will receive one lecture on parenting (Raising Healthy Children). Parents will be asked to complete assessments after intervention completion (post-assessment) and 12 months after pre-assessment (follow-up assessment) in order to detect immediate and more longterm effects.
The investigators will test a new medical grade swaddling system for optimal and more appropriate positioning for preterm infants. This is a trial focused on sleep state, state regulation and long-term neurodevelopment. The central hypothesis is that this novel swaddling method will promote sleep and an optimal sleep-wake cycle, while also improving the neurodevelopment of preterm infants. It is proposed that adequate positioning and secondary feedback of natural movement of arms and legs stimulates and fosters normal brain development.
When a vestibular dysfunction occurs at birth or in early stages of life, one might expect that this may have an enormous impact on a child's development. It is known that a severe congenital or early acquired vestibular deficit in children results in delayed psychomotor milestones. Later in life, children with a vestibular dysfunction may have difficulties with several balance tasks and additional cognitive, motor and/or psychosocial performances. While a few authors have suggested that there is indeed an influence of a vestibular dysfunction upon these different developmental domains (cognitive, motor, educational and psychosocial development), which can be supported by findings in clinical practice as well, literature concerning this topic remains fairly limited. On the other hand, several studies have shown that children with known difficulties in motor and/or cognitive functions have more difficulties in vestibular performances in comparison with their unaffected peers. Although more frequently discussed, the literature on this population is rather scarce too. Therefore, the current project aims to investigate the relationship with and the involvement of the vestibular system in the motor and cognitive development of school-aged children.
Infants with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (ND) show emotional, cognitive and socio-interactive dysregulation dramatically impacting on caregiving behavior. Early family-centered rehabilitation interventions are effective in promoting better infant outcomes and in optimizing healthcare systems economic return in the long-term. The Video Feedback intervention (VFI) is effective in promoting sensitive parenting and supporting infants' development. In the light of limited resources of the healthcare systems, technological advance in telemedicine may facilitate the delivery of VFI to a greater number of families of infants with ND. Consistently, the Supporting Parenting at Home: Empowering Rehabilitation through Engagement (SPHERE) project is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) aiming at assessing effectiveness and efficacy of an early family centered VFI parenting support delivered through videoconferencing on dyads with infants with ND.
Background: During the first few decades of life, the brain changes dramatically in shape and function. Sleep lets researchers measure these changes. Researchers want to create a database of sleep and neurodevelopmental data in a group of infants and children to learn more. Objective: To address a knowledge and data gap in the field of sleep and neurodevelopment in infants and children. Eligibility: Children ages 6 months to 76 months who may or may not be at risk for neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. Also, children ages 6 months to 8 years who have a referral for a sleep study. Design: Participants will have neurodevelopmental testing. They will have a medical, psychiatric, and family history. They will have a physical and neurological exam. They will be interviewed and complete surveys. They will give a cheek swab and/or blood sample. Some participants will have 1 study visit that lasts 2 days. Other participants will have up to 4 study visits. Each visit will last 2 days. Visits occur every 8 months to 1 year, for a total participation time of 2 years. Participants will have a 20-minute daytime electroencephalogram (EEG), if possible. This EEG session will be used to calibrate the machine for the overnight study. Participants will take part in an inpatient overnight sleep study. Electrodes will be placed on the participants. For young children, parents will help place the EEG leads. Other sensors may also be placed. A gauze cap will be placed on participants head to protect the leads and keep the participants from moving them. 'Lights out' will occur as close to participants bedtime as possible. ...
