Filter by:This study is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase III clinical study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Stapokibart Injection in the treatment of subjects with prurigo nodularis, and observe pharmacokinetic characteristics, pharmacological effects, and immunogenicity.
The goal of this randomized control trial is to compare the use of fractional carbon dioxide (Co2) laser to topical corticosteroids to treat lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) patients presenting to Dermatology outpatient clinic, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. Participants will: - Be assessed clinically by doctor - Biopsies will be taken from them by doctor - Receive treatment as laser or topical steroids or both - Fill in depression questionnaire. Researchers will divide and compare groups as follows: Sixty patients will be divided randomly through closed envelop technique into 2 groups (Group A and B) each of 30 patients. Group A will be subdivided into 2 groups (1 and 2). All LSC lesions will be treated in any patient having multiple lesions. - Group 1 - A: Patients will receive 3 monthly laser sessions, in addition to the use of topical emollients only once daily in between the sessions. - Group 2 - A: Patients will receive 3 monthly laser sessions, in addition to topical steroids twice daily and topical emollient once daily in between the sessions. - Group B: Patients will be prescribed topical steroids twice daily and topical emollient once daily for 3 months. to see if: 1. Pruritus severity scale. 2. Scaling, erythema, lichenification excoriation scores 3. Visual analogue scale. 4. Investigator's Global Assessment. 5. Itching mediators (Interleukin-31, Nerve Growth Factor and Substance P assays (itching mediators) 6. Depression improve more in which group of patients after treatment.
The goal is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tofacitinib in treating refractory prurigo nodularis.The main questions it aims to answer are 1. whether tofacitinib is effective in treating prurigo nodularis in the longpterm. 2. whether tofacitinib is safe in prurigo nodularis patients in the longpterm.
Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a skin condition characterized by symmetrically distributed widespread, pruritic nodules that occurs in patients with chronic pruritus. There are 2 subtypes of PN depending on the association with an atopic dermatitis (AD) : atopic PN (Besnier) and non-atopic PN (Hyde). There are no approved therapies, and treatment options currently used have limited efficacy and their long-term use carries the risk of potential severe toxic effects. The mechanisms triggering PN are still unknown. However, recent findings suggest a major role for the Th2 inflammatory pathway. Beyond advancing the basic understanding of PN pathophysiology, our study might also pave the way for developing novel Th2-targeted therapeutic strategies for PN and AD. The primary objective of this study is to characterize the transcriptional profile of the T lymphocytes isolated from skin samples from patients with PN. This study will allow a gain a deeper understanding of the pathophysiologic mechanism of PN, a better classification of its subtypes, as well as their physiopathologic link with AD. Moreover, it will help shape new effective and safe therapeutic approaches in these diseases which are important for optimal therapeutic management.
Principal aim of this study is to assess whether a combination of topical dapsone and clobetasol as a topical steroid is superior to clobetasol alone as treatment of prurigo nodularis or lichen simplex chronicus in a side to side comparison. The study is primarily exploratory and essentially meant to inform the sponsor whether further development of a combination treatment formulation is warranted
Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a common dermatological disorder, manifested as scaly nodules which appear mainly on the extensor surfaces of the limbs. PN may appear secondarily to skin scratching in chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, uremia, hypothyroidism etc. Nevertheless, in many cases no underlying physical disease is present. According to the literature, in fifty percent of the patients there is co-morbidity with depression, anxiety or somatoform disorders. We hypothesize that a group of these patients may benefit from antidepressant therapy.
