Recent studies on catecholamine physiology have shown a direct correlation with arterial hypertension, overcoming the exclusive role in the diagnosis and follow-up of chromaffin tumors. Nevertheless, in literature, few studies explore and reveal the utility of testing metanephrines for the evaluation of sympathetic activity and its associated cardiometabolic complications in patients with essential hypertension.
The safety and efficacy of Oligopin® will be compared against a placebo to evaluate the effect on metabolic risk factors in subjects with metabolic syndrome. During the 84-day study period it is hypothesized that HDL cholesterol will increase and systolic blood pressure will decrease therefore lowering CVD risk factors after supplementation with Oligopin®. Additionally, it is hypothesized that Oligopin® supplementation will reduce fasting glucose levels.
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantations (allo-HSCT) is often indicated in malignant hematologic diseases. Conditioning regimens, used to reduce the tumor burden and to prevent transplant rejection, are based on chemotherapy alone or combined with total body irradiation (TBI). Endocrine complications are frequent transplant-related side effects. Investigators have been well described in children studies but less in adulthood. The objective of this study is to assess retrospectively endocrine, bone and metabolic disorders in adult patients, 12 months after allo-HSCT.
Several crosssectional and prospective studies have shown that metabolic syndrome and its related components are associated with both prevalent and incident CKD . Although the mechanisms for these cardiovascular benefits of Metformin and vildagliptin remain unclear, they extend well beyond glycemic lowering, and therefore are probably best considered diverse "cardiometabolic" pharmaceuticals rather than simply type 2 diabetes drugs. Metformin and vildagliptin have known vasculoprotective actions, but the value of these drugs on drug-naïve diabetic patients during 24 week use warrants investigation. The investigator's purpose was to observe their effects on weight control, Cardiometabolic Risk Factors, Metabolic Syndrome risk, and diabetic nephrooathy Progression.
This current randomized, double-blind, comparator-controlled, cross over study investigates the efficacy and safety of RiaGev™ via evaluation of NAD+, ATP, glucose, insulin, glutathione, and cortisol levels in healthy adults of ages 36-65.
To analyze the effects of altering the time of ingestion of participants' habitual medication (i.e., metformin, statins, ARAII/IACE) and meals around the time of exercise training (exercise fasted or fed) on the improvement of metabolic syndrome factors (hypertension, insulin sensitivity, dyslipidemia, and obesity). There will be a preliminary study of the effects of training "time-of-day" on the primary study outcomes.
The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) is increasing all over the world, which is largely related to the increasing obesity population and the current inactive lifestyle of human beings. It is a common problem facing public health and clinical practice.Metabolic syndrome is an accumulation of biologically metabolic risk factors related to cardiovascular disease and diabetes, including glucose metabolism disorders, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity (especially central obesity).Researchers believe that the common pathological basis of these manifestations is insulin resistance, which is generally considered to be a reduction in the biological effects of insulin compared with the normal biological effects of expected biological phenomena.Nowadays, there are more and more studies on insulin resistance in the world. We have known that age, poor living and eating habits, high blood fat, high blood sugar and stress all lead to insulin resistance. The researchers hope to reduce weight, reduce body fat rate, improve body fat distribution and insulin resistance, reverse abnormal metabolic indicators, and ultimately reduce the incidence of chronic diseases in patients with metabolic syndrome through the intervention of lifestyle and diet habits in the early stage of the disease.
This project will examine habitual physical activity, bone health, and insulin resistance in pediatric acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoma cancer survivors at two time points: baseline and 6 months. At the two study timepoints, all study participants will be asked to wear an accelerometer, receive a DXA scan of the lumbar spine and hip, and have blood drawn for analysis. Study participants will be given a gift card stipend for each study visit attended. Study visits will coincide with regular office visits to Children's Hospital Oncology Clinic and the Children's Hospital Survivorship Clinics whenever possible. The potential mechanism by which physical activity mediates bone changes will be explored by concurrently measuring changes in lean/fat mass and metabolic status. This pilot study will provide data to inform the design of a randomized controlled trial to test the effect of a physical activity intervention on bone health in PCS.
A prospective, controlled, open trial in psoriasis patients with metabolic syndrome, candidate to methotrexate or secukinumab was conducted between January 2019 and May 2020. The primary end point of the study was investigating any variations in waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, fasting glucose, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), creatinine levels between baseline and month-6 and 12 of follow-up.
