Filter by:The IRAM MALI impact evaluation uses a cluster-randomized controlled study design to assess the impact of the package of integrated interventions aimed at reducing the longitudinal prevalence of wasting by reducing the incidence of child wasting, enhancing the recovery/cure rate from wasting treatment and reducing the relapse rate determined three months after post-treatment recovery from wasting. These interventions include, among other things, strengthening of community care groups (NASGs); home visits with delivery of behavioral change communication about nutrition, health and hygiene (WASH) for young children; distribution of a preventive nutritional supplement; and improved coverage of wasting screening (family MUAC and community screening), management, adherence to treatment and prevention of relapse in the health district of Koutiala, Sikasso region, Mali, West Africa.
The IRAM Chad impact evaluation will be based on a cluster randomized controlled trial to study the impact of the integrated and multisectoral services package (PASIM), aimed at reducing the incidence and prevalence of wasting through integrated interventions, including, among other things, strengthening the activity of community care groups, food supplementation, water treatment, and screening for wasting conducted by families.
Proteins play an important role as structural and functional components for the human body and prevent stunting. Protein quality has a great importance in meeting the nutritional needs of populations across the world throughout the life course, particularly during pregnancy and early childhood. Dietary protein deficiency is mainly due to protein indigestibility limiting indispensable amino acids (IAAs) bioavailability. In Morocco, as it's the case in many developing countries, diet is mainly based on a large consumption of cereals, fruits, vegetables and pulses, and is generally low in meat, which is the main source of protein and IAA. The general objective of this study is to evaluate the digestibility of Fava bean proteins and bioavailability of IAA using a dual-tracer method with stable isotopes.
The VideoDining study is a Stage IB behavioral intervention development project. The objectives are to determine the feasibility and acceptability of using video chat during mealtimes (VideoDining) in community-dwelling older adults eating alone at home and to evaluate changes in nutritional intake and loneliness in response to VideoDining.

Hospital Food service is important for patient recovery by providing necessary aid with adequate meal consumption. Overall, hospital experience can influence patients' satisfaction for the foodservice quality. Thus, it is important to evaluate patient satisfaction with food service to meet consumers' needs in order to prevent malnutrition. The aim of the studies is to develop the Malaysian geriatric patients' hospital foodservice protocol (My GERYFS). There are 3 Phases in this research which is phase 1 is a multicentre cohort study conducted among elderly and healthcare professionals involved in Klang Valley Hospitals. Phase 2 for To develop a tailor-made hospital foodservice protocol for Malaysian geriatric patients with healthcare professional input and phase 3 is to determine the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of MY GERYFS protocol in a Malaysian hospital. Effectiveness of this study protocol can bring benefits to elderly to prevent malnutrition in the hospitals via foodservice.
Past studies have pointed out that adequate intake of calories and protein in the elderly can deferred sarcopenia and debilitating conditions. Therefore, this study intends to use oral nutrition as a way of nutritional supplements, without affecting the subjects' normal meal intake, and supplements with snacks It is expected that there will be benefits in protein and muscle synthesis. However, the palatability of oral nutritional products will affect the effectiveness of nutritional supplements. Therefore, this test provides nutrients that are easy for the subjects to ingest with a variety of flavors, in order to achieve the test calories and protein needs. In order to investigate and compare the nutritional status, serum zinc and vitamin D status in healthy (MUST score 0) elderly and at risk of malnutrition elderly, we recruited healthy elderlies in the nursing home.

The investigators want to find out if thin children respond to food in the same way, using an established method to assess energy compensation.
