Testing the Addition of Radiation Therapy to Immunotherapy for Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients Who Are PD-L1 Negative

This phase II/III trial compares the addition of radiation therapy to the usual treatment (immunotherapy with or without chemotherapy) versus (vs.) usual treatment alone in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer that may have spread from where it first started to nearby tissue, lymph nodes, or distant parts of the body (advanced) or that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic) whose tumor is also negative for a molecular marker called PD-L1. Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is a type of radiation therapy that uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. This method uses special equipment to position a patient and precisely deliver radiation to tumors with fewer doses over a shorter period and may cause less damage to normal tissue than conventional radiation therapy. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, ipilimumab may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. The addition of radiation therapy to usual treatment may stop the cancer from growing and increase the life of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who are PD-L1 negative.

Predictive Biomarkers for Pneumonitis After Chemoradiotherapy and Immunotherapy in Patients With Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

This study looks at the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation (chemoradiation) followed by immunotherapy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer, with a particular focus on lung inflammation (pneumonitis). By collecting blood, stool and saliva samples, and data from lung function tests, researchers may be able to create a database of information about treatment and side effects in patients with non-small cell lung cancer who are receiving chemoradiation followed by immunotherapy. The information gained from this study may also help researchers find signs of problems with lung function earlier rather than later, since lung function is checked more often than routine care. This may improve how quickly these issues can be treated, and future patients may benefit from what is learned.

Photodynamic Therapy to Amplify the Response to Immunotherapy in Patients With Non-small Cell Lung Cancer With Pleural Disease

This phase I trial evaluates the side effects of intraoperative photodynamic therapy with porfimer sodium in enhancing the response to immunotherapy with an immune checkpoint inhibitor drug in patients with non-small cell lung cancer with pleural disease. Photodynamic therapy is a technique that that works by combining a photosensitizing agent (porfimer sodium in this trial) and an intense light source to kill tumor cells. Photodynamic therapy may decrease the patients' symptoms and improve their quality of life.

This phase II trial studies the effect of a digital application (app), BNT001, on cognitive-behavioral stress management in patients with stage I-III breast or lung cancer. The app is designed for cancer patients to treat anxiety and depressive symptoms related to their cancer diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to develop and refine procedures for eligibility screening, suicide risk assessment, and delivery of the app prior to the launch of a phase III randomized trial. The impact of the app in managing stress and improving quality of life and mood is a secondary aim.

ETIP may help reduce smoking and improve cessation in patients with head and neck squamous cell cancer or non-small cell lung cancer.

Mutations in this gene may cause the cancer to grow. AMG 510, a targeted treatment against the KRAS G12C mutation, may help stop the growth of tumor cells.

Microwave Ablation or Wedge Resection for the Treatment of Lung, Sarcoma and Colorectal Lesions, ALLUME Study

This study compares the outcomes and safety of two standard treatment options called microwave ablation and surgical wedge resection in patients with non-small cell lung cancer, sarcoma and colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). Microwave ablation is designed to kill tumor cells by heating the tumor until the tumor cells die. A wedge resection is a procedure that involves the surgical removal of a small, wedge-shaped piece of lung tissue to remove a small tumor or to diagnose lung cancer. Infliximab or Vedolizumab in Treating Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Related Colitis in Patients With Genitourinary Cancer or Melanoma

Monoclonal antibodies, such as infliximab or vedolizumab, may help to treat immunotherapy induced colitis/diarrhea. This study may help to identify the optimal treatment strategy for immune checkpoint inhibitor-related colitis in patients with genitourinary cancer or melanoma.

Sirolimus and Durvalumab for the Treatment of Stage I-IIIA Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

This trial studies the side effects of sirolimus and durvalumab and to see how well they work in treating patients with stage I-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer. Sirolimus is an oral medication that blocks the mTOR cellular pathway which may help the immune system work better. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as durvalumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving sirolimus before durvalumab may help the immune system get rid of cancer.
