Filter by:This study aimed to examine the effect of disaster nursing course on nursing students' disaster literacy and preparedness perceptions. The study, which was a one-group quasi-experimental study design in a pretest-posttest design. Pre-test was done on September 27, 2021, and the post-test was applied on January 7, 2022. The location of the study is a public university in Izmir which is located in western part of Türkiye. The population of the study consisted of nursing students (n: 66) studying in the nursing department of the university and enrolled in the elective course "Disaster Nursing". No sample selection was made, and the study was conducted with 62 volunteer students. Individual introduction form, Disaster Literacy Scale, and Perception of Disaster Preparedness in Nurses Scale were used as tools for data collection. At the beginning of the study, data collection tools were collected online form. "Disaster nursing" course was conducted for 14 weeks as an intervention. The data were stored in the SPSS 25 program.
The goal of this observational study is to test a reciprocal relationship between statistical learning and the development of language and literacy in first-graders with autism and their non-autistic peers. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. whether children's statistical learning abilities can predict their long-term improvement of language and literacy skills in school; 2. how children's brains automatically learn patterns from speech and prints; 3. whether children's learning in the lab reflects the language patterns they have learned over the years from their native language. First-grade students will participate in the study twice across three months. During Time 1, children will complete - a battery of language, reading, and cognitive assessments - a series of computer-based statistical learning games both inside and outside of functional MRI scanner. During Time 2, children will complete a battery of language and reading assessments to detect the growth in three months. Researchers will compare the autistic and the non-autistic groups to see if statistical learning plays a similar or different role in predicting children's language and literacy growth.
The aim was to examine the relationship between home literacy of parents whose has children who use cohlear implant and family demographic characteristics and phonological awareness skills of children with cochlear implant.
The investigators are interested in studying the effect of an animated video depicting a nail biopsy procedure on the anxiety, health literacy, and satisfaction of participants recommended to undergo a nail biopsy procedure. The investigators hypothesize that the animated video will reduce preoperative anxiety, increase health literacy, and increase patient satisfaction in relation to nail biopsy procedures.
Purpose: This study will be conducted to examine the effect of virtual reality training on nurses' mental health literacy and stigma level towards mental illnesses. Design: The study is a randomized controlled experimental research. Method: The population of the research consists of 110 nurses working in a public hospital. Power analysis was performed with G* Power software to determine the number of nurses constituting the research sample. The sample size was determined as 25 people in each group. Considering that there may be data loss in the study, it is planned to include 30 people in the intervention group and 30 people in the control group. Nurses who volunteer to participate in the study and fill out the pre-test will be randomly assigned to the groups using the Statistical Analysis Software program to ensure random distribution to the intervention and control groups. Personal Information Form, Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) and Opening Minds Stigma Scale for Healthcare Providers (OMS-HC) will be used in study data collection. Hypotheses: H1: The mental health literacy level of nurses who receive training with virtual reality is higher than nurses who receive classical training. H2: The level of stigmatization towards mental illnesses of nurses trained with virtual reality is lower than nurses who received classical training.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the effects of the Reach Out and Read program on infants and their families in the neonatal ICU. The main goals of this study are: - To complete a needs assessment for literacy interventions in the NICU population through evaluating baseline home literacy scores. - To evaluate the effects of the ROR intervention on parental stress levels as assessed by the 6-question State-Trait Anxiety Index (STAI-6) - To evaluate the effects of the ROR intervention on parent-infant bonding by comparing scores on the 25-item Postpartum Bonding Questionnaire (PBQ) - To evaluate the effects of the ROR intervention on the home literacy environment by comparing home literacy scores Participants will complete three questionnaires that include demographic information, home literacy scores, the Postpartum Bonding Questionnaire and the State-Trait Anxiety Index; once at study enrollment, once at 36 weeks corrected gestational age, and once at 3 months corrected gestational age. Researchers will compare the control group (standard care) and a group that receives Reach Out and Read education to see whether exposure to Reach Out and Read affects literacy behaviors, parental anxiety, and parent-infant bonding.
How health-related information is communicated affects what is understood and might influence how people make decisions and how confident they feel in participating in clinical shared decision-making. The CICERO trial will compare three different communication tools providing information on fictional interventions for a common medical problem (i.e. social anxiety disorder) both in terms of how well interventions work (benefit) and also possible harms associated (risk). The three communication tools ("Summary of Findings table", "Kilim plot", and "Vitruvian plot") differ in how they present information: exclusively written, primarily written and partially graphical, or mixed written and visual. Each participant will be asked to go through one clinical scenario. The investigators will ask participants to familiarise themselves with the tool they have been allocated to (either a plot or a table) and then answer some validated questionnaires to measure how useful and efficient the communication strategy was. The entire study occurs online in a single study session (about 20 minutes). The results of the CICERO trial will inform how to communicate research findings to the general population, facilitating their implementation in clinical shared decision-making.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of a schoolgarden intervention on pupils food literacy, climate literacy, schoolmotivation and physical activity. The study will also investigate the contextual characteristics in the garden using systematic observations and the pupil´s experience of the intervention with focus-groups interviews.
This pilot study aims to test the feasibility and acceptability of a previously developed and tested physical literacy (PL) intervention. A promising and internationally tested intervention, the Youth Physical Activity Towards Health (Y PATH), is based on the theory of PL and has proven to be effectful on children's PA levels and motor skills The Promoting Pupils' Physical Literacy (3 PL) project aims to test the feasibility and acceptability of the previously developed and tested Y-PATH intervention in a Danish context among a pupils (9 11 years of age). The hypothesis is that a revised 3 PL intervention protocol, aiming to increase pupils' PL, is ready for effectiveness testing by the end of this project.

Insufficient information, difficult access to health services and lack of a guiding structure; It negatively affects young individuals' ability to take responsible decisions with good knowledge about sexuality during their sexual development. Information is obtained from channels where erroneous and incorrect information transfer is intense, and the ways of accessing this information play an important role in the spread of sexual myths in society. Based on all these reasons; This study aimed to develop the Sexual Health Literacy Scale.
