Filter by:The goal of this clinical trial is to test whether the stethoscope can be used as a method of assessing endotracheal cuff pressure as effectively as a manometer and also to compare it with the balloon palpation/audible leak method frequently used in clinical practice in adult patients undergoing general anesthesia. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is the stethoscope as effective as a manometer in assessing endotracheal cuff pressure? - Is there a difference between stethoscope and audible leak/balloon palpation methods in assessing endotracheal cuff pressure? Participants will be randomly divided into 2 groups. - Group P: After intubation, endotracheal cuff pressure will be assessed by audible leak/balloon palpation. - Group S: After intubation, endotracheal cuff pressure will be assessed with a stethoscope. - Control will be carried out with a manometer and the pressure values obtained in the groups will be corrected. Researchers will compare ''stethoscope'' and ''audible leak/balloon palpation'' groups to see if which method is effective like a manometer.
Preliminary studies have illuminated the promising nature of ciprofol, indicating its enhanced safety spectrum, superior potency, and a diminished likelihood of experiencing injection-related discomfort. Venturing deeper, this research embarked on an ambitious quest to measure the 95% effective volume of ciprofol for induction of general anesthesia by a modified sequential method and juxtapose the 95% effective volume dosage of ciprofol against a corresponding dose of remimazolam during the initiation of general anesthesia. The study delved into diverse anesthetic protocols, meticulously scrutinizing the safety and efficacy credentials of ciprofol. The ultimate vision was to pave a robust foundation for the sophisticated and judicious utilization of ciprofol in clinical landscapes.
The aim of the study was to determine the impact of the videolaryngoscope on reducing the time needed to intubate on a low-fidelity manikin for beginners. The investigators conducted a randomised crossover study, which took place in the simulation department of the medical school of Tunis. They used a low-fidelity manikin designed for learning airway management. The first part of our session consisted in a theoretical training. The second part was the practical training with procedural simulation.
Nasotracheal intubation (NTI) has become the most optimal alternative to oral endotracheal intubation for oro-maxillofacial surgery because it can offer an excellent vision field of the mouth. Additional benefits include milder oropharynx stimulation, less airway secretions, and better tolerance for long term endotracheal intubation maintenance. Traditional NTI is performed under the guidance of indirect laryngoscope, which is often accompanied by longer maneuver time and adverse complications such as trauma and bleeding. The development of various visualization tools such as video laryngoscope, video fiberoptic scope and video rigid laryngoscope has greatly improved NTI. However, there is no consensus on which one is the best adjunctive device for NTI. Therefore, a study on a comparison of the clinical efficacy of the above three video scope guided methods for NTI will be conducted.
To assess the ongoing continuous quality improvement of rapid sequence intubation in our emergency department. Ongoing assessment will address standardization of the process and protocol driven measures that will improve the overall quality of the intervention.
An optimal endotracheal tube depth is ideally required for preventing the complications associated with mal-positioning of the endotracheal tube. The topographical technique of tube placement considering the individual's morphometric dimensions could help to provide optimal tube placement. hence, to evaluate the efficacy of the topographical technique in providing the optimal tube placement this study will be conducted.
The traditional method of tracheal intubation requires the insertion of a laryngoscope into the oral cavity and directly visualisation of the glottis. The traditional head position called the sniffing the morning air position; consisting of lower cervical flexion and extension of the atlanto-occipital joint is commonly used to facilitate tracheal intubation in this manner by aligning the oral axes and providing the operator a view of the glottis. With the advancement of technology, has seen videolaryngoscopes (VL) developed to ease tracheal intubation. With VL, the glottis is seen through a camera connected to a viewing screen either attached to the top of the laryngoscope or connected to a camera screen by cable. One of the main drawbacks with VL is that a good view of the glottis is seen on the screen, but it can be difficult to pass the tracheal tube through the glottis in comparison to the traditional intubation technique described above. One of the main factors the authors suggest is that VL-assisted intubation requires a head and neck position that is different to the sniffing the morning air position. This study aims to assess the oral axes in three different head and neck positions under MRI to assess which positions improve axial alignment the most.
Endotracheal intubation is a critical intervention for newborn babies. Laryngoscopy is the crucial part of endotracheal intubation. Traditionally, operators use a standard laryngoscope to view the larynx by looking directly into the mouth (direct laryngoscopy). More recently videolaryngoscopes that have a video camera mounted at the tip of the laryngoscope blade have been developed, Rather than look directly into the mouth, the operator looks at a screen that displays the view acquired by the camera (indirect laryngoscopy). Videolaryngoscopes have been demonstrated to be useful for teaching trainees direct laryngoscopy. However, it may be that all clinicians are more successful with a videolaryngoscope. The investigators will compare whether clinicians who are randomly assigned to intubate newborn infants using a videolaryngoscope are more successful in intubating newborn infants at the first attempt compared to clinicians who are randomly assigned to intubate newborn infants using a standard laryngoscope.
Post operative sore throat after general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation is a common problem causing dissatisfaction and discomfort to the patients. The investigators want to study the effect of tramadol on postoperative sore throat in general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.
This study aims to compare the flexible tip bougie with standard bougie for tracheal intubation using non channelled, acute angled video laryngoscope using modified intubation difficulty scale score as primary outcome.
