Filter by:This study is a single-center, randomized, open-label, two cohorts, 3-way cross-over design in 36 subjects to assess the oral bioavailability of four new cabotegravir (CAB) sodium salt tablet formulations relative to the current CAB sodium salt formulation being used in the phase IIb studies under fasting conditions. All treatments will be administered as single 30 mg doses of CAB. Safety evaluations and serial PK samples will be collected during each treatment period. A follow-up visit will occur 10 - 14 days after the last dose of study drug. Treatment period doses will be separated by a 14 day washout. Participation in this study will be approximately 12 weeks.
Death in Ataxia telangiectasia (A-T) is usually due to cancer or chronic lung failure around 20 years of age. Despite low lymphocyte counts (CD3, CD4, CD8 and CD19), IgA and IgG subclass deficiency opportunistic and acute severe respiratory infections are rare. The prevailing wisdom is that an immunoglobulin replacement therapy is not necessary in most of the patients. However no placebo controlled trials have been performed so far. The aim of this trial was to investigate the prevalence of mild and severe respiratory infections and / or chronic cough in classical A-T patients compared to healthy controls.
This pilot phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-resistant gene modified stem cells in treating HIV-positive patients who are undergoing first-line treatment for Hodgkin or Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Stem cells are collected from the patient and HIV-resistance genes are placed into the stem cells. The stem cells are then re-infused into the patient. These genetically modified stem cells may help the body make cells that are resistant to HIV infection.
This study will evaluate the effectiveness of portable colposcopy when compared to conventional colposcopy (25x magnification of the cervix, the gold standard) and Visualization Inspection with Acetic acid (VIA, with 1x magnification, the accepted low-resource method). Half the participants will be evaluated for cervical pathology by portable colposcopy after VIA assessment, while the other half will be evaluated by conventional colposcopy. This study also will use collected lab specimens for human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive women to determine those HPV genotypes most prevalent among higher grade disease cases (CIN II+) and among the sub-group of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive women.
The stud will evaluate whether infusions of CD45RA-depleted lymphocytes from the donor early post-transplant is a safe way to improve immunity to common infections in recipients of TCR-alpha/beta depleted hematopoietic stem cell grafts.
There are few randomized clinical trials in advanced HIV patients. This is a multicenter, randomized, open clinical trial, comparing 2 parallel groups, to compare the immunological reconstitution and the virological efficacy and safety of 2 different combinations of antiretroviral therapy given once a day (QD): abacavir plus lamivudine plus either dolutegravir, or darunavir-ritonavir during 96 weeks in advanced antiretroviral naïve HIV-1 infected patients with less than 100 CD4+ T-cells/mm3. Primary endpoint is the median increase in CD4+ T-cell count at 48 weeks after starting HAART.
Immune Activation persists in HIV-1 infected patients despite efficient antiretroviral treatment. This immune activation is responsible for immune deficiency as well as for non-AIDS related comorbidities, such as non-alcoholic Fatty liver disease, metabolic syndrome or osteoporosis. The goal of this observational transversal multicentric study is to establish the etiologic factors of persistent immune activation in treated HIV-1 infected patients (persistent de novo infection of T CD4+ cells, microbial translocation, active coinfections, immunosenescence, T CD4+ cells lymphopenia, Treg deficiency), its different forms ( activation of T CD4+ cells, T CD8+ cells, B cells, NK cells, monocytes, granulocytes, platelets, endothelial cells or general inflammation) and the potential correlation between causes, forms of immune activation and emergent comorbidities (kidney, bone or liver dysfunction, metabolic syndrome).
Treatment Study to assess of safety and efficiency of T cells receptor (TCR) alfa beta depleted graft for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from haploidentical and unrelated donors in patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases
This study is designed to see how HIV infected patients perform when taking a single fixed dose HIV medication compared to a regimen with multiple tablets. The study is also going to be looking at the differences in complications between the two groups.
