Filter by:In this study, investigators measure patient's voice frequency, swallowing function, and O2 desaturation of the 6 mins walking test before surgery and 4 months after surgery, to find the increase of voice frequency, and swallowing function and the decrease of O2 desaturation.
The investigators hypothesize that positron emission tomography with fluorocholline (F18-choline PET) will reduce the proportion of unnecessary invasive surgery decisions and that the higher cost of positron emission tomography versus MIBI scintigraphy (Tc99m-sestaMIBI ) will be offset by lower cost in terms of type. surgery performed wisely and complications.
Swallow related quality of life before and after parathyroidectomy will be evaluated in patients with primary hyperparathyridism.
The proposed study will investigate the effects of etelcalcetide on the bone and blood-vessel health in patients with CKD-MBD. The investigators will test if etelcalcetide makes bone and blood-vessels healthier. The study hypotheses are that are that etelcalcetide keeps bones strong and lowers the risk of calcium deposits in blood vessels. In Aim 1, the investigators will test if 9-months of treatment with etelcalcetide improves bone strength in twenty ESKD patients with hyperparathyroidism (HPT) by bone biopsy. In Aim 2, the investigators will test if 9-months of treatment with etelcalcetide decreases serum propensity to calcify blood vessels. The potential significance of this study is to provide first-time data on the ability of etelcalcetide to protect bone and blood-vessel health in patients with ESKD.
This is a prospective cohort study aimed to evaluate change of cardiovascular calcification after parathyroidectomy in patients with end-stage renal disease on dialysis compared with control group on conservative treatment.
Despite the strong association of hyperparathyroidism with arachidonic acid related lipid signals, little research has been performed over the years. A better understanding of the link between arachidonic acid remodeling, prostaglandin and endocannabinoid production with primary hyperparathyroidism in primary tissue/cells might open up new avenues for biomarker and thus to a potential therapeutic target. Arachidonic acid remodeling might also have an impact on depression and elevated cytokines in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. The investigators therefore will assess the correlation between postoperative improvement of PHQ-9 and cytokine levels with arachidonic acid remodeling.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of KHK7580 orally administered once daily for 52 weeks compared to cinacalcet hydrochloride as an active control in subjects with secondary hyperparathyroidism receiving hemodialysis in China, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of treatment with SK-1403 for 24 weeks in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism on maintenance hemodialysis.
The primary objectives were to assess the safety and tolerability of twice daily (BID) doses of 65 mg cinacalcet administered orally to adults with primary HPT.
The primary objective was to assess the safety and tolerability of cinacalcet in adults with primary hyperparathyroidism (HPT) when administered as a single oral once daily doses for 6 consecutive weeks and twice daily for 15 consecutive days.
