Filter by:This study is an observational cohort study to measure the impact of express testing and same-day initiation of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) on outcomes related to the PrEP cascade. The investigators expect that same day initiation for PrEP will improve PrEP uptake. The investigators hypothesize that baseline HIV test positivity will be higher than that of general testing for gbMSM in Ontario. This is a key indicator to determine whether this targeted approach is able to access the highest risk population.
This study will consist of a randomized controlled trial of a motivational interviewing intervention for adolescents with diagnosed sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The sessions will provide HIV/STI prevention education, use motivational interviewing (MI) to enhance goal setting, and providing skill building and referral to evidence based STI and HIV prevention strategies Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), condom use, and partner notification.
The study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Game Changers, an 8-session peer-led group intervention that aims to empower and mobilize people living with HIV (PLWH) to be agents for HIV prevention in their social networks.
A study to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary impact of a multi-component strategy to improve pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) uptake and adherence that integrates delivery of biomedical HIV prevention co-located with gender-affirming transgender care (hormonal therapy and medical monitoring) and Peer Health Navigation (PHN) using Strengths-Based Case Management (SBCM) professional supervision. Multi-site, open-label study with each participant randomized 1:1 to Immediate Intervention vs. 6-month Deferred Intervention Arms. Both arms will be provided PrEP and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatment. Participants in the Immediate Intervention Arm will receive co-located gender-affirming medical care and PHN using SBCM starting at the Enrollment Visit. Participants in the Deferred Intervention Arm will receive linkage to external gender-affirming medical care and case management services during the deferred period and will transition to the study intervention six months following the Enrollment Visit.
This is a randomized controlled trial of a multi-level intervention to prevent HIV acquisition among transgender women (N=400) in São Paulo, Brazil. The intervention will be evaluated using a randomized wait-list controlled trial to compare uptake of HIV testing (self-testing and clinic-based) (Aim 1), PrEP initiation and persistence (Aim 2), and other prevention services (e.g. harm reduction) among trans women in the intervention arm compared to those in the control arm with data collection scheduled every three-months. Investigators will assess changes in intersectional stigma (Aim 3), including reductions in internalized stigma and increased resilience to anticipated and enacted stigma, among those assigned to intervention compared to those assigned to the control arm, and assess how changes in stigma result in prevention uptake.
The objective of this study is to compare and evaluate two strategies of delivering PrEP and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) treatment to people who inject drugs to determine the best method of providing care. Participants will be randomized to one of two treatment arms: on-site integrated care or off-site referral to specialized care.
The investigators aim to 1) speed up access to and delivery of PrEP to young women, and 2) compare interventions to support and maximize the prevention-effective use of PrEP. Specifically, the investigators aim to answer the following two questions: 1) how can the study use existing community-based platforms to identify and deliver PrEP to those in need? and 2) which adherence support interventions are most likely to engender effective use of PrEP? The investigators propose to answer these questions by leveraging existing community-based HIV testing platforms in South Africa and use a mixed methods approach to optimize the PrEP cascade and evaluate a community-based PrEP adherence program for young women.
This study uses an ingestion sensor and a wearable sensor (worn as a patch on the skin), which are new Proteus Digital Health (PDH) technologies approved by the FDA, to collect information about patients taking their Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) medication for HIV prevention. The wearable sensor records information, which is uploaded wirelessly to a mobile device and then to a secure computer. Together the sensors and the mobile device transmitting the information to the study computer are called a digital health feedback system (DHFS), which gives healthcare providers information about when patients have taken their PrEP medication. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate that the DHFS is easy to use and acceptable to people taking PrEP; that patients will persist with its use; and that the system provides valid, accurate measures of adherence.
Participants will have a 28-day pre-ring baseline assessment period (Stage 1) followed by randomization to order with 5 participants per study arm. All participants will sequentially receive both study products for 28-days with at least a 2-week washout period between products. Arm 1 will receive the TDF-FTC pod-IVR for Stage 2 followed by the placebo pod-IVR during Stage 3. Arm 2 will receive the placebo pod-IVR for Stage 2 followed by the TDF-FTC pod-IVR during Stage 3. During Stages 2 & 3 participants will also complete brief phone surveys (<3 min), computer-assisted self-interviews (CASIs), and in-depth interviews (IDIs) regarding perceptibility and acceptability. If willing, participants' male sexual partners will be invited to complete IDIs as well.
This study seeks primarily to test, in a two-arm randomized controlled trial (RCT), the efficacy of Project IMPACT, an intervention that integrates Behavioral Activation (BA) with HIV risk reduction (RR) counseling for HIV-uninfected men who have sex with men (MSM) with stimulant use disorder at risk for HIV via sexual behavior. HIV-uninfected MSM with a diagnosis of stimulant use disorder will be equally randomized to one of two study arms: (1) the Project IMPACT intervention, BA-RR counseling, which lasts ten sessions; and (2) the standard of care (SOC) comparison condition, including two equivalent sexual risk-reduction counseling sessions. Participants will be followed for one year post-randomization, with assessments at months four, eight, and 12.
