NCT ID: NCT00257777 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Intermittent Cold Blood vs Crystalloid Cardioplegia in Aortic Valve Surgery

Start date: November 2003
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Controversies still exists concerning the overall clinical effects of blood-based vs. crystalloid- based cardioplegic solution for myocardial protection during cardiac arrest. Both techniques are used world-wide. No larger prospectively randomized studies comparing the two methods have been reported. The aim of this study is to collect a large number of clinical data to create a proper basis for evaluation of the two techniques.

NCT ID: NCT00234364 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Pergolide Treatment and Valvular Heart Disease

Start date: March 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

In a blinded echocardiographic study we investigate the frequency of valvular abnormalities in a group of Parkinson patients treated with either ergot derived dopamine agonists (pergolide and cabergoline) or non-ergot derived dopamine agonists (pramipexole and ropinirole). The ability to detect patients with valvular abnormalities by clinical approach is examined.

NCT ID: NCT00226265 Completed - Heart Diseases Clinical Trials

The Short Form-36: Pre- Versus Post-Surgical Administration in Cardiac Surgery Patients

Start date: January 1999
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the SF-36 can be administered reliably to cardiac surgery patients (two to three days) post-surgery, with the patient answering the questions of this survey from a pre-surgical perspective.

NCT ID: NCT00202657 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Observational Study of Heart Valve Disease in Patients With Parkinson's Disease Treated With Pergolide

Start date: April 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients with Parkinson's disease and treated with pergolide have a higher risk of heart valve disease compared to patients with Parkinson's disease not treated with pergolide.

NCT ID: NCT00166400 Completed - Clinical trials for Heart Valve Diseases

A Randomized Clinical Trial of Metoprolol in Participants With Mitral Regurgitation.

Start date: July 2004
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Mitral valve regurgitation (leakage of the mitral valve of the heart) is frequent and currently there is no specific medical therapy. Mitral regurgitation is a slowly progressive disease that frequently requires surgical treatment. This randomized clinical trial will use Metoprolol, a common beta-blocker medication, to determine if medical treatment impacts mitral valve disease progression.
