Filter by:The objective of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the home-use device Silk'n toothbrush (ToothWave) for the improvement in dental health through the reduction of plaque, gingivitis, and calculus.
Aim: To evaluate the effect of three months use of tablets containing probiotics on the composition of the supragingival plaque microbiota and salivary levels of inflammation-related proteins in oral healthy individuals. Hypothesis: Three months use of tablets containing probiotics will induce quantifiable changes to the composition of the supragingival plaque microbiota and salivary levels of inflammation-related proteins in oral healthy individuals. Perspectives: Data from the present study will be able to reveal the impact of regular use of probiotics on oral homeostasis in oral healthy individuals. Specifically, simultaneous registration of clinical, microbial and inflammatory characteristics will provide comprehensive information on the potential beneficial effect of regular use of oral probiotics on maintenance of oral homeostasis. Thus, data from the present study will provide a scientific platform, which dentist and dental hygienist can utilize when deciding if oral healthy individuals may benefit from using oral probiotics as a supplement to regular oral hygiene.
This study evaluates the interdental plaque removal efficacy, flossing speed, and reduction in gingival inflammation of a new flossing system (GumChucks®) compared to string floss, and to assess preference between the two flossing products in children, parents, and dentists.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical performance of two finish line designs (feather edge and rounded shoulder) in relation with two occlusal designs (flat and planar) in endodontically treated teeth restored with zirconia crowns.
The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of a stannous fluoride containing toothpaste in reducing gingivitis when used twice daily for a maximum for 3 weeks, when compared to a standard sodium fluoride toothpaste (negative control).
The hypothesis to be tested in this study is whether photodynamic therapy (PDT) could favor the decontamination of these areas, as the photosensitizer and light are capable of reaching areas that these instruments have difficulty accessing. In other words, the objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of PDT as an adjuvant treatment to scaling, considering clinical immunoregulatory in patients with gingivitis with the predisposing factor of the use of a fixed orthodontic appliance. A randomized, controlled, double-blind, split-mouth clinical study will include 17 patients. Patients will have their mouth divided into two groups: Control group (n = 17) - Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) + PDT placebo and Experimental group (n = 17) - SRP + PDT. In G2 will be used methylene blue 0.005%, λ = 660nm, 9J (joule) per inflamed site, irradiance = 3.5W / cm (watts/centimeter), radiant exposure = 318J / cm2. In G1 and G2 the scaling will be performed with the aid of the ultrasound. All participants will receive oral hygiene guidance (OHG) after to the end of the study. The clinical periodontal data to be analyzed: plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI) and probing depth (PD) and clinical level of insertion (CLI) by means of a periodontal probe. Crevicular fluid will be collected (from 8 pre-determined sites) for analysis of the IL-6 (interleukin), IL-1β, IL-8, TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor) and IL-10 cytokines, using the ELISA method.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of a toothpaste containing stannous fluoride as compared to Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste in reducing plaque and gingivitis - a three- month study.
Mouthrinses have been in used for centuries as breath fresheners, medicaments, and antiseptics. Recently, propolis has caught the eyes of dentists worldwide and researches are being carried out to infuse the usage of propolis in the dental health care treatments. There is belief that propolis may have a role as a tooth decay prophylaxis and help heal oral ulcers. Propolis is used as mouthwash, toothpaste, oral gel, and throat lozenges because of its proclaimed antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Propolis has shown activity against common periodontal microorganisms, such as Candida species and the Streptococci mutans in vitro studies. Till date, no study has evaluated the clinical and microbiological effects of Malaysian Propolis as a mouthwash. Thus, the present study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of Propolis as a mouthwash in the reduction of Plaque and gingivitis. The aim of the study is to assess and compare the effectiveness of Propolis mouthrinse with Chlorhexidine mouthrinse.
This study objective is to test the Silk'n Toothwave self-selection, by potential end users. Additionally, this study will evaluate if contraindicated subjects will self-exclude from use of the device and the ability to understand accurately the labeling content (box and user manual).
The aim of this analysis was to compare the effects of oscillating-rotating (O-R), side-to-side (sonic), and manual toothbrushes on plaque and gingival health after multiple uses.
