Filter by:This phase II trial is studying alvocidib and oxaliplatin to see how well they work when given with or without fluorouracil and leucovorin calcium in treating patients with relapsed or refractory germ cell tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as alvocidib, oxaliplatin, fluorouracil, and leucovorin calcium, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving alvocidib together with oxaliplatin with or without fluorouracil and leucovorin calcium may kill more tumor cells.
This laboratory study is collecting tumor tissue and blood samples from patients with gynecologic tumors. Collecting and storing samples of tumor tissue and blood from patients with cancer to study in the laboratory may help in the study of cancer.
RATIONALE: Ondansetron may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well ondansetron works in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing stem cell transplant.
This phase II trial is studying how well giving combination chemotherapy works in treating young patients with recurrent or resistant malignant germ cell tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, ifosfamide, and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells.
RATIONALE: Vaccines may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. Colony-stimulating factors, such as GM-CSF, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood. Giving vaccine therapy together with sargramostim may be an effective treatment for breast cancer and ovarian cancer. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and identifying the best dose of vaccine therapy when given together with sargramostim in treating patients with stage III-IV breast cancer or ovarian cancer.
RATIONALE: Lithium carbonate may be an effective treatment for intestinal graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying lithium carbonate in treating patients with acute intestinal graft-versus-host-disease after donor stem cell transplant.
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of temsirolimus, carboplatin, and paclitaxel in treating patients with advanced solid tumors. Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving temsirolimus together with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells.
Trends in Incidence and Survivals for Ovarian Germ Cell Tumors: A 27-Year Population-Based Study
This phase I trial studies the safety and the ability to expand laboratory-treated T cells when given together with cyclophosphamide or denileukin diftitox in treating patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER)-2/neu overexpressing metastatic breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or non-small cell lung cancer previously treated with HER-2/neu vaccine. Laboratory-expanded T cells may help the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Biological therapy, such as denileukin diftitox, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Giving laboratory-treated T cells together with cyclophosphamide or denileukin diftitox may allow the immune system to kill more tumor cells
This phase II trial is studying how well oxaliplatin works in treating young patients with recurrent solid tumors that have not responded to previous treatment. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.
