Filter by:The goal of this clinical trial is to explore Clinical Effect of Stellate Ganglion Block on Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. The main question it aims to answer is: • Can stellate ganglion block improve gastroesophageal reflux symptoms better on the basis of rehabilitation training? Participants will be randomly allocated into the control group or the experimental group, all under rehabilitation treatment, the experimental group will be given Stellate Ganglion Block once a day additionally. The study lasts 20 days for each participant. Researchers will compare the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Questionnaire, Pressure pain threshold, Self-Evaluation Questionnaire for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, to see if the Stellate Ganglion Block can help improve the symptom.
The primary purpose of the study is to evaluate effect of Dexilant treatment among GERD participants in the Russian Federation.
Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy has been established as a safe and effective treatment of Achalasia type I and II; however, it is limited by post-procedure gastroesophageal reflux. Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF) has been introduced as the endoscopic gold standard for anti-reflux procedure. Recently, combined POEM-TIF has been performed successfully as a standard of care treatment for patients with severe GER after POEM. We aim to study the safety and feasibility of performing POEM-TIF (POEM and TIF in the same endoscopic session). This study will also put the groundwork for a randomized clinical trial to further study the clinical outcome of the POEM-TIF procedure.
The purpose of this study is to find out if people who have non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) have changes the investigators can see with a microscope (called confocal endomicroscopy) that is used during endoscopy (a camera scope evaluation of the inside of your stomach and swallowing tube). Traditionally the investigators have used trials of acid blocking medications (PPIs), endoscopy and measurements of acid in the swallowing tube (the esophagus) to determine if the investigators think acid is causing troublesome symptoms. The medical community believes that these symptoms are due to increased spaces between the cells that make up the swallowing tube. The investigators can directly see those spaces with a new microscope that the investigators can pass through the camera scope. Participants will be assigned to take one of two medications omeprazole and sucralfate (both approved medications for stomach symptoms) to treat their symptoms and record how well the treatment works. The investigators then will look to see if the microscope can predict which medication will work best for patients in the future. The investigators also plan to measure the acid levels in your swallowing tube and do a camera evaluation of your swallowing tube and stomach as this is standard for patients with your symptoms. The investigators will compare the results of those studies to the microscope findings.
This superiority phase III study to compare the combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone with Pantoprazole isolated to the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. The hypothesis is that combination of the two medication at the unique capsule is better to the patients because decrease the quantity of times the patients need to take medicines during the day.
The investigators will determine the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) and importantly determine the predictors of response to Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) therapy in EoE. Moreover, the investigators will determine the effect of GERD on the location of esophageal eosinophilia.
A phase III, randomized, open-label, superiority study comparing the incremental product esomeprazole associated with sodium bicarbonate made by Eurofarma and Nexium® in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. The study will enroll 94 patients in each arm (total of 188 patients).
To the best of our knowledge, there has been no randomized controlled trial to compare double dose PPI therapy with standard one dose PPI therapy for NERD patients. Thus, we hypothesize that a double dose PPI would accelerate and sustain the control of symptom in NERD patients.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if radiation-induced xerostomia [RIX] (dry mouth) causes, or worsens the effects of, acid reflux (heartburn and heartburn-like symptoms) in head and neck cancer (HNC) patients receiving radiation therapy. Objectives: Primary Objective: Determine if radiation induced xerostomia (RIX) increases the frequency or duration of acid-reflux when re-measured approximately 6-12 weeks after RT (measured by # episodes, their duration, and Reflux Area Index (RAI). Reflux Area (RA) is the sum of the area under the curve for all episodes of pH<4 recorded during the study in units of Ph*minutes. The Reflux area index (RAI) is the RA corrected for the duration of the study (RA x 100/study duration). Secondary Objectives: 1. To demonstrate that patients undergoing RT for OPC have reflux into the irradiated field that is anticipated to exacerbate mucositis symptoms 2. Correlate RAI and # episodes of acid reflux with salivary flow before and after RT to determine if radiation induced hyposalivation is associated with more reflux events and symptoms. 3. For patients with no pre-RT pathologic acid reflux, determine if RIX leads to conversion to acid-positive reflux measured approximately 6-12 weeks after RT. 4. Correlate office indirect laryngoscopy findings (posterior commissure thickening, cobble-stoning, granulomas, and arytenoids erythema or edema) suggestive of acid reflux in OPC patients with pH-probe findings as was done in larynx cancer (Lewin et al) 5. Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease was defined as a condition that develops when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications. Many drugs used for the treatment of GERD such as omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) which is widely used anti-ulcer drug and has been demonstrated to protect against esophageal mucosal injury. Melatonin has been found to protect the gastrointestinal mucosa from oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species in different experimental ulcer models. The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of exogenous melatonin in the treatment of reflux disease in human either alone and in combination with omeprazole therapy.
