A Study for the Disrupted Interpersonal Interaction Among Gaming Disorder Individuals and Treatment

Aiming at the major problems of unclear brain mechanism of gaming disorder and lack of effective assessment intervention tools, this project started by exploring the brain mechanism of abnormal interpersonal interaction and cognitive control deficit promoting and accelerating the development of gaming disorder, adopted a prospective cohort study design, combined with multi-modal brain functional imaging, cognitive function, social psychological assessment, and other means. To clarify the brain mechanism and outcome of gaming disorder. Based on the preliminary stage, for high-risk groups, risky gaming behavior, gaming disorder layout hierarchical multidimensional assessment intervention system, using science education, brief intervention, social psychological intervention, neural regulation, cognitive rehabilitation training, mobile medical treatment, and other ways, stratification and stage, early identification, prevention and treatment combination, accurate intervention to comprehensively reduce the occurrence and development of gaming disorder.

Psychological Therapy for Gaming Disorder

Gaming is a common leisure activity, both for children and adult, and while it is generally a positive experience for most, it can lead to problems for some individuals. There is currently a lack of knowledge of when video gaming becomes a problem and why, and there is a lack of evidence-based interventions for treating Gaming disorder. This pilot study aims to evaluate a new treatment manual for Gaming Disorder, which consists of modules based on cognitive behavioral therapy and family therapy. The therapy can be provided as individual therapy to the patient, to relatives, or as family therapy involving both the patient and their relatives. This study is an effectiveness trials and will follow all-patients at the clinic who will be offered the treatment. The hypothesis is that the manual-based psychotherapy for Gaming Disorder will result in a reduction of Gaming Disorder symptoms and psychological distress, as well as an improvement in daily functioning.

GamReg Sweden - Quality Register for Gambling and Gaming Disorders

This is a quality register for the monitoring of clinical assessment and treatment for gambling disorder and gaming disorder in Swedish health care. This register is held by Region Skåne, the health care organization of Skåne in southern Sweden, and administered by Register center South, which is associated with health care services in the southern regions of Sweden (the establishment of quality registers in Swedish health care relies upon a national legislation). Quality registers by themselves do not represent formal research projects. However, future research projects can use quality registers, such as the present one, as a data source for future research projects in case they are approved by an ethics authority. Clinical study variables collected in the register include the following (examples): - gender, age, occupation, living conditions - if applicable, types of gambling associated with the treatment needs - if applicable, type of problematic video gaming - type of referral to the present treatment contact - treatment history in psychiatry, social services, enforcement agency - history of suicidal behavior - alcohol and drugs problems requiring assessment or treatment - violence victimization - type of treatment provided to the patient
