NCT ID: NCT03787342 Completed - Flap Advancement Clinical Trials

Comparison of Double-Flap Incision, Modified Periosteal Releasing Incision, and Coronally Advanced Lingual Flap to Periosteal Releasing Incision for Flap Advancement

Start date: December 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) is a reliable method to augment insufficient bone volume for implant placement. Membrane exposure is a major complication which is avoided by tension free primary closure. Classically Periosteal Releasing Incision (PRI) is performed to advance the flap. The aim of this trial is to compare Double Flap Incision (DFI), Modified Periosteal Releasing Incision (MPRI) & Coronally Advanced Lingual Flap (CALF) to PRI in terms of flap advancement, postoperative pain & swelling, membrane exposure and the amount of bone gain clinically and radiographically in GBR procedures.

Flap Advancement Techniques in Ridge Augmentation

Start date: December 20, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Different augmentation techniques has been proposed to resolve problem of hard and/or soft tissue ridge defects to enable dental implant placement. Guided bone regeneration GBR procedure is considered as an acceptable reliable surgical procedure for localized ridge augmentation. Exposure of the membrane used for the GBR is considered a major disadvantage of this procedure. In order to avoid such complication, various flap advancement techniques have been proposed such as Periosteal releasing incision,Double-Flap Incision,Coronally advanced lingual flap. The study compare between the flap advancement provided by Periosteal releasing incision, versus,Coronally advanced lingual flap in the treatment of class 1 ridge defect.
