Filter by:Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is myocardial necrosis caused by acute and continuous ischemia and hypoxia of coronary artery. It can be complicated with arrhythmia, shock or heart failure, which is often life-threatening. The disease is the most common in Europe and the United States, where about 1.5 million people suffer from myocardial infarction every year. China has shown an obvious upward trend in recent years, with at least 500000 new cases every year and at least 2 million current cases . At present, China has a high incidence rate of heart failure after myocardial infarction. The incidence of heart failure within 7 days after myocardial infarction is 19.3%, and the incidence of heart failure from 30 days to 6.7 years after myocardial infarction is 13.1%~37.5%. The incidence of heart failure after myocardial infarction significantly increases the risk of short-term and long-term death, and the prognosis is poor. At present, there is a lack of unified guidance and norms for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention and control strategies of heart failure after myocardial infarction. Cardiac remodeling is the basic pathological process of heart failure after myocardial infarction, and it is also one of the main factors affecting the prognosis of patients. Studies have shown that 30% of AMI have ventricular remodeling 6 months after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and the risk of ventricular remodeling in anterior wall myocardial infarction is the highest. According to foreign literature data, the probability of ventricular remodeling after anterior wall acute myocardial infarction is about 13%, which is 1.9 times higher than that in other parts.Opening the infarct related coronary artery early can save the dying myocardium, reduce the infarct myocardial area and reduce the loss of cardiomyocytes.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of CHF10067 (the study drug) and any side effects that might be associated with it. In addition, the study will evaluate how much of the study drug gets into the bloodstream and how long the body takes to remove it. The body's immune response to the study drug will also be evaluated. The study may also evaluate the effect of the study drug on the level of a certain protein in the body. Chiesi is conducting this study on patients affected by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF, a lung disease). Chiesi is doing this study to establish the doses suitable for future studies.
For all countries, chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis is one of the important disease burdens. Malnutrition is an important complication of liver cirrhosis, which always runs through the course of liver cirrhosis. According to a lot of scientific research evidence, as the consensus of experts all over the world, malnutrition in patients with liver cirrhosis is closely related to poor outcome. Therefore, early and accurate identification of the risk of malnutrition is very important to improve the prognosis of patients with liver cirrhosis. The purpose of this study was to study the relationship between malnutrition-related indexes and prognosis in patients with liver cirrhosis. 2000 patients with liver cirrhosis were prospectively included, laboratory indexes related to malnutrition and other evaluation indexes were recorded, and long-term follow-up was made to observe the short-term and long-term prognosis of patients with liver cirrhosis. At the same time, a prognostic prediction model was established based on multivariate Cox regression, and a series of in-depth studies and verification were carried out on this basis.
A participant- and investigator-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled, multicenter, platform study to investigate efficacy, safety, and tolerability of various single treatments in participants with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the UK s most common inherited genetic condition and affects more than 10,500 people. The disease causes problems with the movement of salt and water in the body, resulting in sticky mucus building up, mostly in the lungs and gut. Thick mucus in the airways leads to repeated infections which, over time, damage the lungs. Chest physiotherapy is prescribed to loosen and clear sticky thick mucus from the airways and so to help to reduce lung infection. Chest physiotherapy is a routine treatment to keep people with CF healthy. However, many say it is time-consuming and a burden. People with CF have asked if doing exercise could have the same effect as chest physiotherapy sessions for helping clear mucus. Exercise could be more enjoyable and less burdensome. Through a recognised priority setting partnership, the CF community recently ranked research to reduce the burden of their care and answer whether exercise can replace chest physiotherapy , as their number 1 and 7 priorities. Surveys show that many people with CF have occasionally chosen to replace chest physiotherapy with exercise for airway clearance, and we recently confirmed this through a UK-wide survey. It is not known if they would be willing to take part in research that asks some to stop chest physiotherapy and to exercise (with coughs and huffs) instead. New medicine (modulators) have recently become available for many people with CF, bringing dramatic improvements in their health. Some people who have started modulators are considering whether they can reduce or stop treatments - including chest physiotherapy. So, the effects of stopping chest physiotherapy need to be investigated and also if exercise can be used instead - this research study aims to understand this. A recent survey in people with CF, their families, physiotherapists and doctors, conducted by this research team, showed us that many consider hard exercise with coughs and huffs to be able to clear mucus from the airways. This study will recruit 50 people with CF (>12 years old) for 28-days. This study will ask half of them to continue their usual care, and half to stop chest physiotherapy and do exercise that gets them breathing deeply (with coughs and huffs) instead. This study will see if people are willing to start and continue with such a study and what they think of the study processes. It will also see how stopping chest physiotherapy and replacing it with exercise affects measurements of their lung function. The study will also involve talking with people with CF and members of their CF team to understand their experiences. This information will reveal whether a larger study can answer the question of whether certain forms of exercise can safely be used as an alternative to chest physiotherapy.
An exploratory comparison of changes in liver fibrosis through glycemic control within and between groups after administration of Pioglitazone and Evogliptin in chronic hepatitis B patients with type 2 diabetes and liver fibrosis
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of VX-121/tezacaftor/deutivacaftor (VX-121/TEZ/D-IVA) in participants with cystic fibrosis.
Point-of-care echocardiography (POC-Echo) is used to determine left ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunction (LVDD), inferior vena cava (IVC) dynamics and volume status in cirrhosis and Acute-on-chronic liver failure ACLF accurately. We will assess IVC dynamics, LV systolic function [LV ejection fraction (EF) & cardiac output (CO)], and diastolic dysfunction (E/e', e' and E/A ratio) and urinary biomarkers (cystatin C and NGAL) in patients with cirrhosis and ACLF with hepatorenal syndrome-acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics, safety, tolerability and efficacy of VX-121/tezacaftor/deutivacaftor (VX-121/TEZ/D-IVA) in CF participants with at least 1 triple combination responsive (TCR) mutation in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene.
The overall goal of this pilot study is to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of the Kintsugi voice journaling app in adolescents with CF to inform the design of future observational and interventional trials. Additionally, the investigators aim to evaluate the potential impact of the voice journaling app on key clinical outcomes in CF.
