Filter by:Purpose China has a population of 1.4 billion and an enormous medical expenditure burden, and Chinese traditional culture has a long history. It takes time to recognize and accept the concept of brain death (BD) as death. Promoting brain death determination (BDD) and rationally allocating medical resources have become major national policy issues. To identify the safest and most reliable ancillary tests needed if the clinical examination is incomplete. Method The technical group of the Brain Injury Evaluation Quality Control Center of the National Health Commission retrieved coma cases registered from 2013 to 2019. According to clinical criteria for Brain Death Determination (BDD), the patients were divided into two groups: a brain-death (BD) group and a non-BD group. The BD group was divided into a complete brain death with no doubt group (BD1 group) and an incomplete brain death with doubt group (BD2 group). Depending on the site of the brain injury, the accuracy of BDD was evaluated using the independent ancillary test or combined ancillary tests. Data from the BQCC/NHC database and yearbook were obtained, and data analysis and status comparison were conducted on six practical activities: organizational system construction, standard and specification formulation, case quality control, professional skills training, scientific research publicity and education, and international communication.
Sedation of severe COVID-19 disease are often complicated. We try to find a correlate for this observation by encephalographic studies.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of neurodegenerative disorders leading to dementia. Currently, there has been no effective pharmacologic therapy for this disease. Electroencephalogram-based neurofeedback is considered as a potentially treatment strategy. In this project, the investigators aim to investigate the effectiveness of neurofeedback therapy on cognition for individuals with subjective cognitive decline (SCD). Participants will receive electroencephalogram-based neurofeedback therapy once a day for successive five days. Then, the investigators will evaluate the changes of memory function between baseline and post-therapy visits.
Delirium is an acute onset of attentional and cognitive impairment. BIS guided anesthesia can reduce the incidence of postoperative delirium. Long term electroencephalogram (EEG) suppression during operation is related to postoperative delirium. The latest research shows that the anesthesia depth guided by EEG does not reduce the incidence of postoperative delirium. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between anesthesia exposure with different minimum alveolar concentration(MAC) and postoperative delirium(POD), and to observe the characteristics of EEG.
Music has been consistently shown magic power in brain plasticity. Several study proved music can influence electronic activity of preterm infants' brain, while none study covered region oxygen metabolic. The investigators aim to discover the effects of music therapy on near-infrared spectroscopy and electroencephalogram in premature infants.
Knowledge of the basic fundamental skills of electroencephalography would enable medical and nursing staffs to provide efficient and effective bedside EEG monitoring in critically ill patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the ability of a 10-points EEG teaching program to allow bedside caregivers (medical and nursing intensive care unit staff) interpreting EEG in the critical care setting.
This study aims to determine the safety and effectiveness of oral melatonin as natural inducer of sleep to acquire useful EEGs in South African children following its introduction as the main agent used in the Neurophysiology department at Red Cross Children's Hospital. This is an observational retrospective study.
