View clinical trials related to Drug Allergy.
Filter by:This study seeks to enroll patients admitted to a children's hospital with identified penicillin allergy. A screening checklist is performed to identify patients with very low or low risk histories of penicillin allergy to offer direct oral challenges to the antibiotic class to de-label patient's with drug allergies.
Cephalosporin antibiotics are commonly used but can result in allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. There is no clear diagnostic approach for cephalosporin-allergic patients, and guidance for the use of other antibiotics in allergic patients is based on side chain chemical similarity and limited skin testing evidence. This project includes a clinical trial and mechanistic studies to optimize the approach to cephalosporin allergy and advance future diagnostics.
Drug allergy is often under-recognized, yet over- (mistakenly) diagnosed, especially in Hong Kong. There is also a dire shortage of allergy specialists and facilities to tackle the overwhelming drug allergy pandemic. Fortunately, when trained, non-specialist physicians and nurses have demonstrated comparable capabilities in drug allergy evaluation compared to specialists. To potentially promote and propagate the role of non-specialist physicians and nurses toward drug allergy care, the investigators propose a study to investigate the impact of an intensive and focused drug allergy educational course conducted at the University of Hong Kong.
The purpose of this study is to characterize immune cells using single-cell transcriptomic analysis in pediatric patients aged 2 to 18 years undergoing general anesthesia who are expected to receive Rocuronium, a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, in the event of an allergic reaction.
There are limited studies on perioperative hypersensitivity (POH) reactions in children. The diagnosis of POH might be underestimated due to the difficulty of recognizing the reactions. Anaphylaxis may go unnoticed due to the unconscious state of the patient. Urticaria may be overlooked due to the sterile covers. This study aimed to evaluate POH reactions prospectively.
To assess the efficacy of skin tests with platinum salts in patients suspects with immediate hypersensitivity reactions. All patients adressed in consultation to the Allergy Department of university hospital of nancy for an immediate hypersensitivity reaction to platinum salts between 2015 and 2021 were retrospectively recruited.
Background: Multiple drug hypersensitivity syndrome (MDH) is defined as confirmed drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) to at least 2 chemically and pharmacologically unrelated drugs. Reports of MDH are scarce and poorly specified and studies which diagnose MDH on the basis of positive allergy tests are lacking. Objective: To evaluate retrospectively the frequency and characteristics of MDH patients in a large database. Methods: All the patients who consulted and were tested in our Allergy Unit between September 1996 and February 2018, with confirmed MDH will be included. Clinical history and allergy work-up results will be extracted from our Drug Allergy and Hypersensitivity Database (DAHD). The frequency of MDH will be calculated, MDH patients will be described, the most frequent associations of DHRs will be identified and analysed.
Current study evaluates the use of the improved Basophil Activation Test (BAT) in the diagnostics of IgE-mediated allergy to antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
This research study is evaluating a drug called omalizumab (brand name 'Xolair') as a potential treatment to be used in conjunction with drug desensitization to prevent reactions from recurring and allowing the participant to be treated with the chemotherapy the participant's oncologist prefers to give.
Tanreqing Injection is widely used in respiratory disease with Chinese medicine syndrome of retention of phlegm and heat in Fei. This study record clinical use of Tanreqing Injection in the real world, observe the adverse drug reactions/ adverse drug events during treatment, and figure out why Tanreqing induced severe allergic reaction happens.
