Filter by:Measurement of aerosolisation during esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) to compare two types of mouthpieces, conventional versus a new and commercially available one 'the droplet reduction mouthpiece B1'. This new mouthpiece is considered to reduce droplet spreading during EGD and therefore could be a good option for use in COVID-19 positive patients.
The primary goal of this study is to assess use of a biocontainment device for planned airway procedures under general anesthesia. This will serve as a platform for using this device as a novel biocontainment and aerosol evacuation system as part of rapid sequence intubation protocols for COVID-19 patients. We hypothesize that airway procedures with the aerosol biocontainment device will be safe and effective with airway procedure times approaching times for airway procedures without the device.
This study will measure the size and quantity of respiratory particle production in children under a variety of conditions, including face coverings/masks and various common activities.
