Filter by:Patients with neurodevelopmental diseases and their families need to identify the genetic cause of the disease to allow for recognition of the disability, genetic counseling, and possible hope for participation in therapeutic research studies. Access to high-throughput genomic exome or genome analysis allows the identification of a genetic cause for approximately half of the patients. However, families with no result or with a variant of unknown significance after these tests may find themselves in a new diagnostic impasse. The high-throughput sequencing used today generates sequences of the order of 100 base pairs (so-called "short read" sequencing). This allows an analysis of about 90% of the genome. However, many regions are not accessible in regions of interest for the genetic diagnosis of rare diseases. Long fragment sequencing generates sequences that are about 20 times larger and its use has recently made it possible to sequence the human genome almost completely (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abj6987). The main contribution lies in the analysis of complex regions of the genome such as segmental duplications or centromeric regions. It is likely that this technology increases the sensitivity of detection of genetic variants in patients with genetic diseases. Its contribution should be studied in patients for whom no genetic cause has been identified by classical techniques. This study aim to investigate the contribution of long fragment genome sequencing.
Environment which children live and grown is very important for the all development stages. In Turkey there is no measurement for home environment evaluation so our aim is to investigate the Psychometric Properties of the Turkish version of Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development-Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS) in a sample of Turkısh children.
There has been limited research in the area of speech and language therapy awareness in Pakistan. The study aims to assess the efficacy of providing speech therapy awareness in private schools through a pre-post model. This Quasi experimental study will be a means of reaching out to schools and directly create awareness regarding the field and its scope. Pre-assessment will be carried out and after which a 45 minutes presentation will be conducted face to face or through a webinar as per school directives. The results will be analysed quantitatively and pre-post assessment of the participants will be measured.
This study investigates whether creative music therapy applied to premature infants will facilitate brain growth and development at term equivalent assessed by magnetic resonance imaging. Secondary objective are improvement of neurobehavioral outcomes of premature infants at 24 months, as well as at 5 years of age.
Psychiatric drugs are often used to treat behavioral symptoms of mental retardation/developmental delay (MR/DD). These drugs can cause serious side effects. Newer drugs may have decreased side effects. This study will compare new and old drugs used to treat behavioral symptoms in people with MR/DD.
