Filter by:The aim of this study is to investigate the hypothesis that single dose of tranexamic acid (TXA) preoperatively will lower blood loss and transfusion rate in elderly patients with hip fractures (intertrochanteric or Subcapital), that will be treated with intramedullary nailing and cemented hemiarthroplasty respectively. After application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, patients will be randomized in two groups. Group 1 will include patients that receive preoperatively single dose of TXA (15mg/kg) and Group 2 will include patients that receive normal saline (control group).
With the development of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) techniques and technology for anesthesia control, non-intubated anesthesia with spontaneous ventilation has been widely applied in VATS. A multicenter randomized parallel controlled study was applied in this study to assess the efficacy and safety of thoracoscopic bullectomy surgery under intravenous anesthesia with spontaneous ventilation versus tracheal intubation general anesthesia.
This study aims to study the efficacy of a preoperative "bundle" of interventions, which consists of preoperative physiotherapy, nutritional support and cognitive exercises on elderly frail patients undergoing major abdominal surgery, and evaluating their outcomes. There will be two arms, intervention and control.
