Filter by:People who inject drugs are at risk of injection-related infections, like abscesses or infective endocarditis. The Injection-Related InfectionS (IRIS) program hopes to improve treatment for participants by providing a low-barrier, one-stop shop model for people who inject drugs who experience injection-related infections to access more holistic and compassionate care. IRIS is a non-randomized clinical trial, meaning that it offers a specific program to eligible patients. This program offers care for substance use and infectious disease with additional peer support and systems navigation, if interested. The investigators anticipate enrolling 80 participants in the intervention and will follow participants throughout the infection treatment period (estimated 6-12 weeks). The investigators will collect information at the time of enrolment, at the 6-month mark, and monthly via electronic medical chart review. The investigators will use an interrupted time series analysis to evaluate the impact of the intervention on rates of treatment completion, emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and death, before versus after the intervention.
The aim of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of addition of gentamicin on irrigation fluid during trans-urethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and its role in reduction of post-TURP infectious complications. the participants will be randomly divided into two groups: Group A (gentamicin group) and group B (Placebo).

Using our own patient data, our study aimed to predict mortality that can develop in Carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli bloodstream infections with a machine learning-based model. In the intensive care unit, patients with bloodstream infections, both with and without mortality, will be examined retrospectively in two subgroups for comparison.

The goal of this prospective, interventional, single-center study is to assess whether the early detection of Influenza with smartwatch algorithms and alerting, rapid testing, and subsequent Baloxavir treatment demonstrate better post-infection outcomes versus publicly available- and Centers for Disease Control (CDC)-derived national statistics for equivalent household populations as well as pediatric kidney, heart, liver, lung transplant recipients and waitlisted patients.

The increase in activity within medical biology laboratories linked to the arrival of new markers (in cardiology, oncology, infectious diseases, etc.) and the acceleration of technical progress have created a prominent place for automated systems and their reagent kits within these establishments. It is in this context that CerbaXpert took the initiative to set up this research project for the collection of prospective biological samples and their analysis. It transcribes both a process of continuous improvement but also scientific development, making it possible to provide new and/or complementary data in order to improve the operation of automated systems and their reagents within medical biology laboratories. These data obtained in current practice via this study will also be compared with the technical information provided by the manufacturers of the reagents and their automatic devices.
