Stellate Ganglion Block in Patients With Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

A prospective study was conducted on 84 CSVD patients with dysphagia and cognitive impairment. They were divided into the comparison group and observation group evenly. All the patients were provided with routine therapy, while the patients in the observation group were given SGB. The swallowing function, cognitive function and activities of daily living of the two groups of patients before and after treatment were evaluated by Penetration-Aspiration Scale, Mini-mental state examination and modified Barthel index.

Early Age-Related Hearing Loss Investigation (EARHLI) is a single site study that will randomize late middle age adults to either a hearing intervention (including hearing aids) or a health education intervention. Participants will be followed for 1 year. This study will provide information on reducing cognitive decline in those at risk for Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD).

High-frequency Transcranial Random Noise Stimulation (Hf-tRNS) for Sleep Disturbances in Neurocognitive Disorders Due to Vascular Disease

The investigators aim to 1) investigate and compare the safety, efficacy and sustainability of hf-tRNS, tACS and sham transcranial current stimulation (tCS) over left inferior parietal lobe (IPL) in mild neurocognitive disorder due to vascular disease (NCD-vascular) patients with sleep disturbances; 2) examine the relationship between the changes in sleep quality, cognitive function and brain morphometry. Methods: Chinese right-handed mild NCD-AD patients with sleep disturbances (aged from 60 to 90 years) will be randomly assigned to a 2-week intervention of either hf-tRNS, tACS, or sham tCS, with 10 participants per arm. Before intervention, structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data is used to construct individual realistic head model. Comprehensive assessments, including sleep quality, cognitive performance and blood pressure will be conducted at baseline, 2th week, 6th week and 12th week. Program adherence and adverse effects will be monitored throughout intervention.

Evaluating the Efficacy of the Pain Identification and Communication Toolkit

This study will evaluate the Pain Identification and Communication Toolkit (PICT), a multicomponent intervention for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). PICT provides training in observational pain assessment and coaching in effective pain communication techniques. It will recruit participants from programs of all-inclusive care for the elderly (PACE). The investigators hypothesize that PICT will help caregivers to recognize and communicate about pain in their care recipients.

Optimizing tDCS Protocol for Clinical Use in Major Depressive Disorder

In this project, the efficacy of different tDCS protocols in major depression will be investigated. The tDCS protocols have already been investigated in humans, and results showed that stimulation intensity has a different effect on tDCS long-term aftereffects based on the human motor cortex model. The project has three major goals: first, we want to see if the differential outcome of tDCS dosage, as present in healthy populations, can be translated to patients with major depression. Second, we want to compare the efficacy of a multi-channel novel protocol with conventional tDCS modules. Lastly, we are interested in the safety and tolerability of optimized multi-channel. The project output will be an optimized tDCS protocol for major depression treatment.

About 10-20% of persons who contract SARS CoV-2 will experience persistent post-acute sequelae of SARSCoV-2 infection (referred here as PASC). While treatments offered at emerging outpatient COVID recovery clinics are being informed by previous similar diseases, the need is great for a better understanding of the unique needs of this growing population and for tested, efficacious rehabilitation programs to address them. We provide both here.The targeted six-week program will be comprised of a core set of therapies, including individually titrated stretching and flexibility, strengthening of accessory breathing muscles and diaphragm, resistance and aerobic conditioning, and vestibular rehabilitation, supplemented by neuropsychological and cognitive remediation tailored to patients' needs.

PAMNEU - Memory in Neurology

Memory in Neurology project (PAMNEU) aims to map the distribution and severity of cognitive impairment in patients of outpatient neurologic offices across the geographical area of the Czech Republic. 1000 patients in 50 neurologic offices will undergo cognitive tests (ALBA and PICNIR) and psychometric scales (FAQ-CZ and GDS-CZ) to asses their functional state and depressive symptoms. The trial's primary goal is to assess the distribution of cognitive impairment among diagnostic groups in neurologic care according to the ICD-10. Additionally, the feasibility of ALBA and PICNIR methods to uncover previously undiagnosed cognitive impairments will be evaluated.
